LITTLE TIGERS INSTRUCTORSBEST PRACTICES
1. Little Tigers RULE OF THREE – If you have said it twice, try saying it a new way including demonstrating and making physical adjustments. Be careful for sounding irritated or frustrated when students don’t respond in an ideal manner.
2. Use VOICE TONE to help convey your message to emphasize your point. Expanding your voice tone should help you to engage your class better.
3. Sometimes, FASTER is BETTER! The speed in which you lead your students can help overcome distractions and other challenges during class.
4. It’s all about the REPS – Let the students “DO IT” and adjust them AS they do! There is always a choice between long and short explanations.
5. Use PHYSICAL TOUCH! Remember, touch is fastest! Of course we should be careful to touch appropriately, but do not be afraid to use this powerful teaching method.
6. SCAN CONSTANTLY and “take in” how the students are responding to your instructions. Teaching is REACTING to what your students are doing, so we must never stop watching them.
7. ANTICIPATE who will need extra help! Being a proactive teacher means looking for the “trouble spots” before they happen.
8. DETERMINE what your little tigers can handle! Spend MORE time on what they need and LESS on what they know.
9. GIVE FEEDBACK! Share your thoughts with the families, letting them know what you are excited about accomplishing with their child so far, and what your will accomplish next!
10. SMILE! A teacher’s smile should be the picture painted in every student’s mind! Always remember what a joy and blessing it is to work with our Little Tigers.
