By 1968, King realized that she was inter-ested in women, and in 1971, began an in-timate relationship with her secretary, Marilyn Barnett. King acknowledged the relationship when it became public in a May 1981 'palimony' lawsuit filed by Bar-nett, making King the first prominent pro-fessional female athlete to come out as a lesbian. King said that she had wanted to retire from competitive tennis in 1981 but

could not afford to because of the lawsuit. Within 24 hours [of the law-suit being

filed], I lost all my endorsements; I lost everything. I lost $2 million at least, because I had longtime contracts. I had to play just to pay for the lawyers. In three months I went through $500,000. I was in shock. I didn't make $2 million in my lifetime, so it's all relative to what you make. King is very involved in the Women's Sports Foundation and the Elton John AIDS Foundation. She says "I believe in the missions of these two organizations because they are about helping others, and making a difference in the lives of those around us.” King has residences in New York and Chicago with her life partner, Ilana Kloss http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billie_Jean_King

King was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009 On August 2, 2013, King was among the first class of in-ductees into the National Gay and Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame.

eczema–probably because of their anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory proper-ties. When you are ready to do your laun-dry, you put between four and six nuts in a muslin bag, tie it up and toss it in with your laundry. The nuts need warm water to work (this helps release the saponins) so you’ll need to either soak them in hot water for about five minutes before you use them if you use cold wa-

ter, or just use warm water for your wash. RiotJane says…. If you boil soapnuts for an hour or so to make a concentrated liquid deter-gent, the cleaning power remains the same throughout the batch. You can then freeze the concentrate into cubes in an ice tray and tailor the amount of concentrate per load.—Thanks Jane.

What the Heck are Soap Nuts? Soap nuts, or soap berries, grow in tropi-cal areas and have been used by native peoples for hundreds of years. They con-tain saponins are naturally occurring sur-factants (they foam when shaken in wa-ter) thus creating the cleaning properties of the soap nuts–both for clothing and skin. They are extremely mild and are great for people with sensitive skin and may even provide relief for those with

Coalition for the Home-less of Central Florida has grown from a church outreach program to a full-service agency, which now provides food, shel-ter, housing options, edu-cation, advocacy, support services, comprehensive

children's services and case management; all focusing on offering the tools to return homeless people to self-sufficiency. The Coalition is the largest provider of home-less services in Central Florida. It is the

largest residential facility for children in Central Florida and one of only a few emergency shelters in Orange County that accepts intact families. On a given night, 32 percent of those we serve are children. Their average age is 8. On a given day, up to 240 individuals, including families, single parents, women and children live at the Center for Women and Families. Qualified case managers design self-sufficiency plans for residents at the CWF. Social and emotional stability are the main goals – along with practical goals such as a sav-ings account and financial stability. The CWF also houses the First Steps Shelter Recovery Program for Women, a part of the Coalition's First Steps Substance Abuse Recovery Program.

deed. I believe society should praise cannabis dealers for their work, at least the ones with a sense of morality. Consider this: Retail stores selling legal and often vibra-tion-lowering products make an average of 100 percent profit on the items they sell and sometimes up to 300 percent profit or more. Their products are legal, so they don’t face the dangers of prison or robberies like a cannabis retailer

too often does. But the average can-nabis dealer makes only 10 to 20 per-cent profit on what they sell, despite the huge risks and investments inher-ent in the business. And the product they sell is healing and raises a per-son’s vibration. So if you have a good dealer, smoke them out and tell them you love them more often. They’re taking a big risk for you and making a lot less that Wal-Mart!” - Jason King.

Affirmations for the Moment "People are like stained - glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within." -Elisabeth Kubler-Ross “We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.”—Mother Teresa “I didn't mean to be a songwriter; I just was writing for fun, you have all day to do it. I was homeless so that's all I had to do.” --Jewel “Be grateful for the home you have, knowing that at this moment, all you have is all you need.”—Sarah Ban Breathnach “I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug. Marijuana is an herb and a flower. God put it here. If He put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong?”—Willie Nelson “Where thou art, that is home.”—Emily Dickinson
