LAHAINA BAPTIST CHURCHSeptember 2012
PASTOR CHRIS’ CORNERAloha kakou,
September is going to be an exciting month for LBC! We have many wonderful things scheduled to celebrate what God is doing in our midst. Here we go!
First, Back To Church Sunday is September 16th:Joining together with over 10,000 churches in the
U.S., we will share with our friends, neighbors and families an invitation to return to church on the 16th. Be looking for special invitations that you can give to remind others about the joy of worshipping and serving God together. Also, keep on the lookout for more cool videos!
Second, Celebration Sunday is September 23rd:We will take this Sunday to celebrate what God
has done in our ministry over the past year including baptisms, outreaches, camps and more! This Sunday will be an opportunity for us to celebrate during the 10:15 worship time but also to share the ministries after church in our Ministry Fair. Tables will be stationed on the lawn with volunteers from each of the great ministries that we share in at LBC with information of how you can join with them in ministry. And… after the Ministry Fair, we are all invited to the Killett’s home for an Ohana day celebration of fun and fellowship!
Third, See You At The Pole is September 26th:Our students will participate in the annual SYATP
event on the 26th at 7:00 am at the flagpole of their school. They will be praying for their school, faculty and staff, community and church – so, be in prayer for them! On the night before, the 25th, there will be a SYATP rally at the Lahaina Civic Center Amphitheater to get the students prepared for the next morning. Pray for them as they ask for God’s blessings on their schools.
Finally, 5th Sunday Worship and Fellowship is September 30th:
We will gather to worship and fellowship with the other Southern Baptist Churches on Maui at 5 pm here at LBC. Get ready to share with others as we join together to sing, hear God’s Word and eat! We will enjoy a potluck dinner after church, so plan to attend and enjoy the blessing!
Mahalo again for the wonderful privilege that you have given me to be your pastor. I pray for God’s continued blessings on us all, as we grow closer to Him.
Until next month,Aloha in Christ, Pastor Chris

What It Means to Follow Jesus
Following Jesus is not a matter of following our own interpretation of what it means to follow Jesus. The scriptures are clear that following Jesus means following His Word and His Expectations. In the Sermon on the Mount, followers are called to chose right attitudes, show godly character, and use their influence for God’s kingdom. Followers are called to examine God’s Word and pursue God’s righteousness in their thoughts, hearts, and actions. Life happens quickly. We can choose to have a genuine faith, stand on His Word, be obedient to His teachings, and trust Him through the storms of life. Or we can follow our own leanings and flounder amid the trials of life because our foundation is not set on the Rock. The choice is ours. Join us every Sunday at 9 in September as we study the Sermon on the Mount. Learn with us as we examine Jesus’ teachings and discover what it really means to follow Him.
Scripture for September:Matthew 5:6 New American Standard Bible (NASB) Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

MCBA 5th Sunday Sing
We will be having the MCBA 5th Sunday Sing here at LBC on Sunday, September 30th at
5:00 pm. We will join together with the other
Southern Baptist Churches on Maui to worship and
fellowship, followed with a Potluck dinner. Please make your plans to be here and
fellowship together with all our other MCBA churches and
bring a dish to share.
See You at the Polewill be Wednesday, Sept. 26th. We will be having a
youth rally on Tuesday, Sept. 25th at the Lahaina Civic Center to join all the Westside youth together
and get them ready for the next morning. Pray for our students and that will have a fantastic turn-out so they can join together and pray for each other, the school
they attend and the faculty and staff.
Celebration SundaySunday, September 23rd
We will be having a celebration Sunday on Sunday, September 23rd so that we can celebrate every ministry that we have here at Lahaina Baptist Church. We will look at all we done through
Christ and this will be a great time that anyone who is interested in serving at
LBC can see the different ministries where they can get involved. We have a ministry fair immediately following the mid-morning worship. Following
that we will have an Ohana Day at the Killett’s home for some fun, food and
fellowship. Don’t miss it!

Aloha Church Family:
What a great month it has been. We started school, well, my two children and the rest of the Youth group did also. We had to release all the amazing summer fun we had and re-‐focus our a@enAon on things that ma@er. Well, the youth thought so much of what we had been learning in our Sunday School classes that they wanted to conAnue moving to live more like Christ. AEer all, we are learning about the Right Character, The Right Standard, The Right MoAve, Right RelaAonships and our personal decisions. The idea we came up with, Share what we know with our friends at school. So, we are planning a very special Day at School. This day is called See You at the Pole. We will be asking our young people to
stand up for Christ and Pray for their Schools.
The See you at the Pole event is scheduled for September 26, 2012, start Ame is 7am and the locaAons are at each and every Flagpole on the school property. This event is worldwide and we will have students from around the world praying in unison with other ChrisAan students, seeking to make their campus an area of friendship and compassion and helpfulness. This year’s event is focusing on the book of Ephesians, ch. 3:14-‐21.
KNEEL BEFORE THE FATHER & PRAY TO BE STRENGTHENED FOR CHRIST TO DWELL IN YOUR HEART TO BE ROOTED AND GROUNDED IN LOVE TO GRASP THE EXTRAVAGANT
DIMENSIONS OF CHRIST’S LOVE TO BE FILLED WITH THE FULLNESS OF GOD.
I would like to ask everyone who reads this arAcle, to please pray for the young people of this island. They are surrounded with lies from Hell and forced to make tough decisions each and every day. This is not an easy Ame to be a young person. They need all the help they can get.
Aloha Ke Akua and Hui Ho
