K.R. Puram: The youth of KR Puram feel that they are let down because of the trappings that make them miss the cosmopolitan life here. KR Puram comprising nine civic wards (KR Puram, Ramamur thy Nagar, V i j a n a p u r a , H o r a m a v u , Basavanapura, Devasandra, A Narayanapura, Vijnananagar and HAL airport ) make it all work and no play for the youth in this eastern periphery of Bangalore. The only positive factor is the rise in realty prices. Unplanned growth over the years has led to the mushrooming of private layouts with narrow roads. Lack of safe drinking water and underground drainage system make the standard of KR Puram below par. The nine wards are still steeped in semi-urban ambience. They joined mainstream civic body with the formation of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). Again it is only the realty prices that has taken off in KR Puram. The IT boom in neighbouring Whitefield and the merger with BBMP have pushed up the land prices. Is it the kind of development we should feel proud of with only the land prices going up?

Kundalahalli: The recent hike in petrol and diesel price is affecting the lower middle class and middle class people in the country. The farmers from Haryana and Punjab showed their disappointment by conducting a rally in the national capital Delhi. They feel reducing the prices of wheat and hiking the prices of fertilisers and diesel burden them heavily.Mr. K.V.C. Madhukar, the owner of MATS Fuel Park near Brookfields is of the opinion that diesel hike will seriously affect the common man since all commodities are transported by utilizing diesel as fuel. “However, considering the international crude price, it is tough for the government to reduce the price of petrol” he added. “If petrol is subsidized, the government will hike the price of something else and so ultimately the people will be taxed.” is what his opinion. LAYOUT TALK
Did you know Bangalore had also been called the “city of lakes”? Did you know that Bangalore has its name from Bengaluru and from Bendakaluru-that is the city of boiled beans? But alas it is fast loosing the significance of that name. In 1924, Bangalore had 262 lakes. Today it has only 34.
Did you know that a huge lake existed in the place which now is the National Games village, housing 5000 apartments in Koramangala? Well all that is past.
We a r e u n d o i n g w h a t Kempegowda I the founder of
thBangalore did in the 16 century. He alone was responsible for the creation of 100 lakes.
One big lake in the centre of the city is the ULSOOR lake. Mysore gazetteer B. Lewis Rice says that there was dense forest around the lake and that Kempegowda while hunting in the forest fell asleep under a tree when he got a dream. In his dream Lord Someshwara is said to have appeared and revealed to him the existence of a hidden treasure and also bid him to build a temple. Kempegowda secured the treasure and built the temple likewise which stands to this day.
The government has been taking steps to clean the lakes in Bangalore and improve i ts surroundings. But this has not been done to all the lakes. Active citizen participation is necessary for doing so. Many such lakes which require attention are in and around Bangalore.

Satyameva Jayathe the BenchmarkIndia: Most often we come across respons ib le peop le u t t e r i ng “everybody is corrupt. So nothing wrong in lying to some extent or i ndu lg ing in chea t ing . ” The benchmark is set and absolutely the chance of keeping alive uprightness and honesty is lost.It is at the right time the Lokayukta judge N. Santhosh Hegde says that unless people begin to differentiate between legitimately gotten wealth and ill-gotten wealth, and shun people who have got wealthy illegitimately, no one can fight corruption. He says the attitude of people towards corruption is very crucial in curbing this menace. And in the race for a c q u i r i n g w e a l t h , e v e n professionalism is lost, be it a lawyer, a doctor or an engineer. And in this mad rush, he says there are no rules and only the end matters, which is exactly the opposite of what Lord Krishna says, i.e. Follow the truthful dharma and the fruits will follow. He urges the young generation to take over the charge of the nation and fight for the right and the just.
Give an Opportunity for your Child to Write CreativelyAECS Layout: Every parent wants his/her child to be a doctor, a software engineer or a lawyer. Some aim for IIT or IIM. But all children are not the same. And many have talents which may go unrecognized and remain buried all through their life. Given a chance children may exhibit talents which when nourished
may lead them to great heights thus filling their life with joy, happiness and success. One such field is creative writing. A child can enrich his life by learning how to write creatively, how to be a news reporter, tell, retell stories, present news, and also to be a theatre artist.Tailorbird has organized a summer camp for children aged 8 and above

Environmental science Today with the kind of stress earth is facing from all directions, it is imperative that the field like environmental science gains significance. It includes many aspects of ecology and how to reduce the impact of population pressures and modern living standards of humans on earth. Many universities offer a two year postgraduate program in this field which is going to be promising in the future.
Dandi March Day
Exactly 80 years ago, on March 12 1930, Mahatma Gandhi lead a march from his ashram in Sabarmathi to Dandi to protest against the salt tax imposed by the British. When Gandhiji broke the salt laws in Dandi by making salt without paying tax, large scale acts of civil disobedience began against the British. This act of Gandhiji drew world wide attention and the momentum to gain independence increased. He was then arrested on May 5th 1930 for one year. This non violent method of protest had a significant influence on American civil rights activist Martin Luther King JR. too.

Kundalahalli: Union Budget in India has announced an increased the Excise duty for small cars from 8% to 10% and for big cars from 20% to 22%. The petrol and diesel prices have also gone up which will further increase the running costs. Many people therefore decide wisely to choose a second hand car of their choice. March 8th, is observed as International Women's Day. It is to celebrate the liberation and empowerment of women across the globe. International Women's Day was first observed on 28 February 1909 in the United States. The entire day is dedicated to women's struggle and its consequences. Women from time immemorial have contributed to social, economic and political advancements. Indira Gandhi, for instance, played an influential role in the Indian political scenario when she was one of the few powerful women. Today we see women like Sonia Gandhi, Mamta Bannerjee, Sushma Swaraj and many others who are leaders.
International Women's Day is celebrated to honour ordinary women across the globe with extra-ordinary qualities. Women fought for basic rights, equal status with men, they also fought
Lage Raho Ladies!against violence against women. The years of struggle by several women has now gained momentum and the oppressors are now aware that there are consequences. However, the harsh realities of life cannot be ignored as there are still thousands of cases of rape, domest ic v iolence, f lesh trade, trafficking, molestation, dowry deaths, sexual harassment etc., many of which go unreported. The trend of violence against women in different countries is perhaps more or less the same.
International Women's Day is now an official holiday in many countries. The tradition sees men honouring their mothers, wives, girlfriends, colleagues, etc with flowers and small gifts. In some countries this day is an equivalent of Mother's Day where children give small presents to thei r mothers and grandmothers.

Gout is one of the best understood Rheumatological disorders. It results from our body's inflammatory response to deposition of MSU (Mono Sodium Urate) crystals in joints and soft tissues. It is seen in 1% of the population. Gout is uncommon in pre-menopausal women and common in all ages of men. Peak incidence in men is after 35yrs and in women after 65yrs.1) Increased uric acid levels in blood (Hyperuricemia) occurs due to increased production from purine foods or due to decreased elimination through the kidneys. IndiansSiddapura: Nowadays sports and games are encouraged at very young age in India. Parents like to see their children become national and international champions. Besides winning, there are many benefits in playing a game – the sportive spirit, physical exercise & mental toughness are all going to make up children's life in future. Let's consider tennis in India. Once upon it was played only by rich people. The case is different now.
It is a lovely sight to watch kids learning tennis in TAMS. The parents patiently observe the children while playing. It helps parents know about children better and encourage them in their life. The goal of every parent should not just be to turn his/her child into a professional, but also to give him or her the tools for success that will make the game more enjoyable. All sports have 4 main areas - technical, tactical, physical and mental.
Tennis is no exception and the mental part of tennis is usually the deciding factor that tips the scales in the match.
Tennis & More Sporting (TAMS) is a well known Tennis Academy (with a chain of 5 Tennis Academies) in Bangalore. It has many National ranking kids playing in the academy. It has certified and trained pro's teaching the kids. All the national ranking kids in this academy are sponsored by various organizations.

MIND WORKS-25Who Holds Your Emotional Key?By UK Athikkal-----------Laila is a young working professional managing twin responsibility of looking after her home and office. She is quite comfortable in handling both these responsibilities at a time. But she has a different problem. She gets upset very often on trivial issues whether at home or at the work place. She tends to react in a most inappropriate manner for any adverse comments or criticisms from the members of her family or work place colleagues. She remains emotionally upset during most part of the day. It appears that she lacks emotional control. Others around her holds the key to her emotional state.
It is pertinent in this context to dwell up on the concept of emotional intelligence. This kind of intelligence is more important for a happy productive life than the so called IQ ( Intelligent Quotient).it was Daniel Goleman who published his studies in the last decade under the caption Emotional Intelligence (E Q).
What is Emotional Intelligence? It is a cluster of traits or abilities relating to emotional side of life. We shall now have a closer look at the major components of emotional intelligence.1.Knowledge of our own emotions
Emotions are often powerful reactions. So, it would seem at first glance that every one ought to be able to recognize their own feelings. To the extent individuals are not aware of their own feelings; they cannot make their own choices.2. Managing Our Own Emotions\
Have you ever lost your temper or cried when you did not want to show such reactions? Have you ever done something to cheer yourself up when you felt anxious or depressed? If so, you are already aware of the fact that we often try to manage our emotion- to regulate their nature, intensity and expression, Doing so is very important both for our own emotional mental health and from the
point of view of interacting effectively with others.3. Motivating Ourselves
It is another aspect of emotional intelligence. Ability to motivate oneself to work long and hard on a task and remaining enthusiastic and optimistic about the final outcome can contribute to success in many different contexts.4. Recognizing and Influencing Other's Emotion
Ability to “read” others accurately to recognize the mood they are in, is also another aspect of emotional intelligence. This skill is valuable in many practical settings. For instance, if you can accurately judge another person's current mood, you can tell whether it is the right time to ask that person for a favour. Those who have this skill can get other people to feel what they want them to feel5. Handling Relationships
Some people seem to have a knack for getting along with others. They have many friends and often enjoy high levels of success in their careers. In contrast, others seem to make a mess of virtually all thir personal relationships. These are examples of differences in interpersonal intelligence. These skills are clearly distinct from the ones needed for getting good grades or scoring high on tests of intelligence and play a key role in important life outcomes.

The Kr ishna temple in Wasa layout (Doddanakundi) evokes primordial connection between the present generat ion and Dwaparayuga. There is a widespread belief that Pandavas lived in (Kishkinda) Karnataka during their exile in forest (Vanavasam).
The Pandava Statues are present in Chitradurga. There is a temple to Dharmaraya (Yudhisthira), the other Pandavas, Krishna, Draupadi and AdiSakthi here. A further proof of Pandava presence and continued influence here are Karaga and Bheemana Amavasya. Chaitra Pournami (the full moon day of the first month of the lunar calendar (Chaitra Masa)) is the day/night when Karaga is celebrated. It comes 15 days after Ugadi.Bannikoppa, a village 6 km away from Shiggaon
taluk, doesn't wake up to cock-a-doodle-doo. There are no fowl here. Nor for that matter, goat or sheep. Elders of this 250-household village believe they shouldn't rear domesticated livestock like sheep or goats, neither poultry for traditional reasons. Legend has it that the Pandavas lived here for one year and since then no other animal than cows are bred here.
Kaivara is a pilgrimage center located in the Chintamani Taluk of Kolar district. It is said that the Pandavas lived here during exile in the forest.
The Kr i shna Temple in Wasa Layou t (Doddanakundi) joins the list. Pandava images carved on stones are seen in this temple. Many stones have been lost in between, however the ones recovered have been worshiped here. Mr. Rajan Varier, the manager of the temple is proud to have a Krishna temple here. He preserved the stone carvings for about 13 years hoping that a temple would arise one day. All these years he performed pooja to these stones. True to his belief, one Mr. Krishna Reddy came forward to build Krishna Temple in the same premises a year ago. Thus the Krishna Temple came into existence in Wasa Layout, Doddanakundi. The priest Subramaniya Bhat conducts pooja every day. Satya Narayana Pooja is also performed here in a grand manner. This Krishna Temple in Wasa Layout, Doddanakundi is a rare place reflecting the history of Pandavas in Bangalore.
