Blayney High Bulletin - Issue 2 Term 3 - Week 4 6 August 2021
Last week we celebrated Education Week at Blayney High School. I would like to congratulate our Education Week award winners. Each of the students were recognised for their commitment and dedication to learning. The theme for Education Week was lifelong learners and we have no doubt each of these winners exemplify the core principles of the theme and public education.
The following award recipients are pictured with Year Advisors and Relieving Principal Mr Baker:
Year 7 – Lucy Allen Year 8 – Ella Sinclair Year 9 – Toby Tyrrell Year 10 – Koby McKay Year 11 – Charlotte Crome and Alex Kinghorne Year 12 – Sophie Jones and Joel Tyrrell.
Year 12 have almost completed their Trial HSC examinations. The preparation for the examinations can’t be understated. Our students have had to battle adversity with the recent COVID lockdowns, yet they have shown up each day to give their best effort. I wish each and every one of them the best of luck with their results.
Our school debating team recently battled it out with Bathurst High. Unfortunately, we didn’t come away with the victory but I’m told the students learnt many valuable negotiation skills throughout the preparation of the debate. I’m incredibly proud of the effort and commitment the students have shown when representing the school. They are always well spoken and professional in their approach. Well done to Ms Mackie and her team of Ella Tilburg, Thomas McDonald, Koby McKay and Stevie Webster
Kind regards Mr Terry Baker Rel Principal
Congratulations to Niaomi McDonell who has recently been appointed as the school’s Student Support Officer. The Student Support Officer (SSO) is a fulltime, non-teaching member of staff who works closely with our wellbeing team and school counselling service. Niaomi will support our whole-of-school approach to student wellbeing, with a focus on early intervention to support positive mental health. We look forward to having her work closely with our school community.
We welcome back Kathy Fardon into our front office. She returns to us after working at other schools over the past 3 years. Her enthusiasm and positive outlook have ensured that she has made a seamless return into the position.

Compulsory School Attendance Information for parents
Education for your child is important and regular attendance at school is essential for your child to achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options. NSW public schools work in partnership with parents to encourage and support regular attendance of children and young people. When your child attends school every day, learning becomes easier and your child will build and maintain friendships with other children.
The importance of arriving on time
Arriving at school and class on time:
• Ensures that students do not miss out on important learning activities scheduled early in the day
• Helps students learn the importance of punctuality and routine
• Give students time to greet their friends before class
• Reduces classroom disruption
Lateness is recorded as a partial absence and must be explained by parents.
