IHSAA Semi-State Champion Girls Basketball Team and IHSAA Swimming State Qualifiers

The girls’ basketball team is making back-to-back trips to the IHSAA state championship game, and the foursome of Tyler Birkla, Jasper Suiter, Joe Grease

and Bennett Vail will represent LN in 8 different events at the IHSAA state swimming championships this weekend. Great job Wildcats! You make us proud!

Cheerleading: The cheerleaders are excited about the trips our basketball teams are on right now, and will be ready to support our girls at Bankers Life Fieldhouse this Saturday and the boys basketball team on senior night against HSE Thursday night and next week against LC in the sectional. They have been a valuable part of bringing the excitement to the crowd all season! Great job Wildcats! Pictures by Mrs. Ampil.

Girls Basketball: Marion County Champions, Queens of the County, MIC Conference Champions, Sectional Champions, Regional Champions, Semi-State Champions…all goals at the beginning of the season, and all checked off. All but one. The IHSAA State Championship game will feature our Lawrence North Wildcats (25-4) vs Northwestern (29-0) at Bankers Life Fieldhouse this Saturday at 8:15pm. Tickets are $15.00 and are available now in the LN athletic office from 8:00am – 4:30pm Wednesday and Thursday and on Friday from 8:00am – 9:00am. We have a meeting at the IHSAA office at 10:00am on Friday morning to rectify tickets, so no tickets will be available after 9:00am on Friday morning!

Let’s go Wildcats! “Get That Bread!”

Boys Basketball: The 4A #2 Wildcats (22-1, 6-1 MIC) had a great week, beating Pike 76-48, Fort Wayne South 88-53, and Howe last night, 74-25. With the Pike win, the Wildcats clinched the MIC conference championship! The team will host Hamilton Southeastern on Thursday night in their final regular season game. JV starts at 6:00pm, and the senior recognition ceremony will begin around 7:20pm. Get here early! Next week, the Wildcats will once again face off against the LC Bears, this time in the opening round of the sectional. That’s right, probably the two best teams in the state of Indiana will play in the first round of the tournament! The sectional is being hosted this year at Lawrence Central. The LN-LC game will be played on Wednesday at approximately 8:00pm, immediately after the first game between Attucks and Cathedral at 6:00pm. This night, if not all nights, will sell out. Get your tickets early! $10.00 All-Session passes are being sold now in the LN athletic office!

Swimming & Diving: The boys swimming and diving team were the sectional runner-up in a very competitive field at North Central on Saturday. The Wildcats won six of the twelve events! Champions included Bennett Vail in the 200 free and 500 free, Joe Grese in the 200 IM, and Jasper Suiter in the 100 breaststroke. State qualifying swims were also turned in by Tyler Birka’s runner-up finish in the 100 fly, and Suiter’s runner-up finish in the 50 free. The foursome teamed up to win both the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relays in school record and sectional record times! Suiter also broke his own school record in the 50 free. These four gentlemen will represent LN at the IHSAA state meet this Friday and Saturday in 8 different events. Great job, men!

Wrestling: The wrestling team got five guys to the IHSAA semi-state at New Castle; Logan Carrender, Anthony Hughes, Jeremiah Henderson, Ethan Butterfield, and Excell Brooks. Anthony Hughes qualified for the IHSAA state meet at 120 pounds and competed at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Friday night, finishing his season in a 4-2 loss in a tough match.

LN SOFTBALL “TOP DOG” FUNDRAISER THURSDAY NIGHT! The LN softball team will be holding their annual “Top Dog” fundraiser Thursday

night before the LN vs HSE basketball game just outside the main gym. From 5:00pm – 7:00pm, you can enjoy a premium hot dog with all the toppings, chips, drink, and a dessert, all for only $5.00! All are welcome! Come early for softball and stay for the LN vs HSE basketball game and the recognition our senior class!

REQUIRED IHSAA PHYSICAL & CONSENT TO TREAT/EMERGENCY

FORMS

A new IHSAA physical and consent to treat forms for the 2019-2020 must be on file with the athletic office prior to any workout, open gym, practice, or competition. This is required every

year. There are two links below. One is the IHSAA physical form that must be filled out and turned in to the LN athletic office. The second is the required online consent to treat and

emergency medical information forms.

Both of these are required for any student-athlete for the 2019-20 school year. This includes summer workouts, open gym, conditioning, practice, tryouts, and of any type of

competition. No student-athlete will be permitted to work out until these requirements are completed and

submitted.
