Greetings and Shalom to All!! We pray this year has brought forth many blessings and been a year that you have seen the faithfulness of the Lord. Surely as we look back on 5780, we remember historic and prophetically significant events. It seems we were all jolted into a new reality when the Covid pandemic engulfed the world. Overnight things changed. Passover was celebrated from our homes, as the world went on lockdown. The constraints of being unable to go to Passover events was especially significant as our thoughts turned to the first Passover when all of Egypt were in their homes. For those with an ear to hear, the Passover lambs had been slaughtered, the blood was on the doorposts and the warning to stay in because the death angel would pass over this very night had all been declared. All these events took on new meaning as we huddled in our homes knowing that Covid could bring death and was raging in the world. And adding to all these incredible aspects of Passover this year was the fact that Passover was, incredibly, on the same day of the week that the first Passover took place. Was the world hearing the voice of the Lord? Then came violence and lawlessness on our city streets accompanied by political chaos. Suddenly, police departments were being defunded, people groups were being pitted against each other, and the voice of ordinary, law abiding people seemed very quiet. Was the world hearing the voice of the Lord?

And suddenly, a historic peace treaty was signed! Israel and the UAE entered into a deal that is expected to bring in many other Arab nations, and this could happen very quickly. TRULY, WE ARE LIVING IN BIBLICAL TIMES, AND INCREDIBLY, THE LORD HAS ALLOWED US TO BE ALIVE RIGHT NOW! The letter Pey, in the Hebrew year 5780, represents the mouth, and it is also the number “80.” It tells us we are in the decade of the 80’s on the Hebrew calendar. All the historic events we are seeing is evidence that our Mighty G-d is speaking. Is the world hearing Him? Is He getting everyone’s attention? Another question we have to ask is since we are His representatives on earth, are we speaking out for Him? Are we proclaiming His mighty works to those He brings us into contact with? We have a big responsibility and honor to be alive in these days. He is trusting us, and teaching us to trust Him. In a world that is fearful and chaotic, we have a great opportunity to speak of His love and goodness, of His forgiveness and of our hope in Him. Surely, the Lord is on the move, and all the conditions we are experiencing, give us unprecedented opportunity to share the love of the Lord and the truth of Torah with those the Lord brings across our paths. And now we look ahead to 5781! We can all walk into the coming year with confidence and wonder as we see the days approaching when His Kingdom will be established on earth. I Peter 3:15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect…

Meet Leah Now we would like to introduce “Leah” to you. You have no doubt seen her worshipping the Lord as she flags during our worship times. Leah is a miracle, as she was born with only half of a heart! She has survived three open heart surgeries, two cases of MRSA, a stroke and numerous other medical issues. At 12 years of age, it appeared her heart was failing, and she received a Make A Wish scholarship which launched her into Professional Cooking Classes for an entire year. Obviously, Leah loved cooking! Once she graduated from these classes, she was promptly accepted into a number one culinary arts school called Sizzlework! All the while, the Lord strengthened Leah’s medical condition! Upon graduation from Sizzlework, Leah was offered and accepted a job there. Her mom, Giomi, a fabulous cook, decided to volunteer at the same place. Together, they taught the science of cooking. When Covid came along, the restaurant had to close, but Good News for all of us….The two of them have decided to begin an on line cooking school called “LaCucina Di Leah and Giomi”. This will begin in September, and give us all a great opportunity to join together in these classes. Whether you prefer sautéing, braising, roasting, pasta, soups or Mediterranean food, they will teach it all! Below, you will find a couple of Leah’s favorite recipes for Rosh HaShana! Hope you Enjoy! Honey, Lime & Lemongrass Chicken with Fruit Salsa 1 pkg chicken thighs Marinade Salsa *2 limes juiced * 1 cup sliced strawberries *zest of 1 lime *2 Kiwis peeled and thinly sliced *1/2 cup honey *2 T lemon juice *1 stalk lemongrass * ½ cup + 2 T honey *1/4 t red pepper flakes *salt, pepper and red pepper flakes to taste * 1 T fresh or powdered ginger Heat and blend all till lemongrass is wilted. Sauce *2 T cream Pour ½ cup marinade over chicken, cover with plastic wrap and *1 T butter refrigerate overnight. Preheat oven to 350, remove chicken from

*2 T lime juice marinade. Bake in roasting pan for 1 hr. 15 min. or until chicken *1/2 cup honey reaches 165 degrees. Combine remaining marinade and sauce and *salt, pepper and red pepper flakes to taste heat. Pour over chicken; drizzle salsa over each piece and serve. Honey Orange Rosh HaShana Bundt Cake *2 eggs + 3 yolks Preheat oven to 350. Mix butter, eggs, and cream *½ stick butter with a hand mixer. Now add orange juice and zest. *1 t. orange juice Whisk gently. In another bowl mix dry ingredients *1/2 t orange zest then gradually add wet mix, blending till smooth. *3/4 cup sugar Butter your Bundt pan. Pour mixture in the pan *1 cup cake flour and bake for 1 hour. Cool. Glaze *1 cup milk Warm milk for 30 seconds in microwave. Mix milk, *3/4 cup honey honey, powdered sugar, orange zest and salt till ½ cup powdered sugar smooth. Drizzle over cake. Enjoy! 1 t orange zest 1/8 t salt A Message from Pastor Mark Shalom one and all! Can you believe how fast the world is spinning! How many of you feel like you are in the spin cycle right now at this time? The Fall Feasts are upon us as well. We also have an election cycle for those here in the US, along with the Covid virus and all its limitations, not to mention power outages and wildfires that are going on in several places. Other than that God is still on the throne and Yeshua is coming soon! We need to stop for a moment and be still just knowing that He is God! Take a deep breath, know that all we can do is all we can do and throw all your cares upon Him! This month of Elul the King is in the field and is looking for people who are looking for Him. Look at what God says in: Psalms 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go: I will guide you with my eye. God says He will guide us with His eye! How often can you read what someone is thinking that you know very well by looking into their eyes? God wants us to be so close to Him relationally that He will be able to guide us with His eyes, but we have to be in eye contact with Him! We can’t have our eyes wandering in every other direction being distracted by the world, the flesh and the devil. In Hebrews it states we are to be looking to Yeshua the author and finisher of our faith!

If there was anyone in the Bible who had to keep his eyes on the LORD, who lived in totally chaotic times having total lawlessness going on around him, along with political treachery and religious hypocrisy, while also enduring an enemy invasion of his city, being thrown into prison at the same time being unable to escape, at the same time being all alone with no friends or family supporting him it was Jeremiah! He spoke truth at all times representing the heartbreak of God over his wayward people that preferred the idols of their day!
