This course introduces you to the operation of the legal system and to concepts of civil and criminal liability in English law.
We visit Sheffield Crown Court to see real defendants charged with serious crimes. We go to Parliament and the Supreme Court to find out how the law is made, and watch civil cases in the High Court.
You will also have the opportunity to meet with various people who work within the legal profession.
You may hope to work in the legal profession one day or just be interested in studying a new course. Many higher education courses and careers include a study of law. A Level law will give you a flavour of what this might be like.
Examples of careers our students have followed include:
The legal profession, Police, banking, forensics, criminology, accountancy, architecture, education, social services, the civil service, probation work.
You will develop sound analytical skills and an ability to form reasoned judgments. You will also gain confidence in speaking and listening to others.
