Foundation awards $3,500 in scholarships

The Laveen Education Foundation provided $3,500 in scholarships to Laveen stu-

dents this year.

Selected eighth grade students entering high school received a $100 scholarship

placed in their high school bookstore account. These students were selected by

the school staff for demonstrating exemplary leadership, citizenship, and service

as well as high academic achievement or growth in their achievement.

Additionally, two $1,000 scholarships were awarded to high school graduates

who were promoted from eighth grade in the Laveen Elementary District.

This is the first year the Laveen Education Foundation has been able to provide

scholarships. The scholarships were made possible through the support of Laveen

District employees and community members who contributed to the Foundation

through monetary donations as well as supporting the Winter and Spring festivals

that raised scholarship funds.
