We are pleased to report that our current students have not only been active in their research produc- tivity, but have also won many awards and scholar- ships such as the SSHRC, OGS, and the Travel and Research Award. For the 2014-2015 admissions cycle, we have award- ed the Dean’s entrance scholarship to outstanding incoming domestic and international students in each PhD and research-based master’s program. With an increasing number of applications to our programs from last year, most of our fields are expe- riencing healthy growth. In addition, many highly qualified applicants have chosen to join us this com- ing September, including two SSHRC winners in MSc in Management: OB/HRM program. We are excited to have such high calibre students joining our programs in every field. This issue of the bulletin shines a spotlight on the many accomplishments of our students. We hope that you will join us in celebrating their well- deserved success. Program Updates 2013/2014 Celebrating our students’ academic and research excellence! We are pleased to report that our current students have not only been active in their research produc-tivity, but have also won many awards and scholar-ships such as the SSHRC, OGS, and the Travel and Research Award.

For the 2014-2015 admissions cycle, we have award-ed the Dean’s entrance scholarship to outstanding incoming domestic and international students in each PhD and research-based master’s program. PROGRAM NEWS PRIME (Project on Research in Inter-national Business, Marketing and En-trepreneurship) is funded by an SSHRC grant to support knowledge mobilization in International Entrepre-neurship. Co-led by Nicole Coviello and Helena Yli-Renko (USC Marshall), the PRIME team is assessing over 700 multi-item measures from over 400 articles. The outcome of this project will be a Handbook of Multi-item Measures. The PRIME team consists of four doctoral students from the Marketing Area:

SSHRC Congratulations to the following students who have received the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) awards:

Alireza Azimian (PhD in O/SCM) has received funding from the P&G Centre for Business & Sustainability at Laurier for his project with Dr. Hamid Noori, Implementing Sustainability through Governance of Contagion Risk in the Food Sector. He also won the Ontario Institute of PMAC Achievement of Ex-cellence Scholarship.

Jon Kerr (PhD in Marketing) became 2013 Consortium Fellow at the AMA Entrepreneurial Marketing SIG Doctoral Consorti-um in Boston, USA.

Lisa Kuron (PhD in OB/HRM) has won 2014 Best Paper Award, Human Resources Division at the Administrative Sci-ence Association of Canada Annual Meeting, and Doctoral In-stitute Scholarship from 2014 Organizational Behavior Teach-ing Society.

Christos Stathopoulos (MABE) has been granted the 2014 Fin-lay Award, which is an endowed scholarship established in memory of Professor John Finlay, a member of the Depart-ment of Economics from 1969-1992.

Dave Whiteside (PhD in OB/HRM) was named the Graduate Students’ Association’s (GSA) Researcher of the Year.

VISITING SCHOLARS Dr. Jin Gao (Shanghai Maritime Uni-versity) has joined our School as a vis-iting professor (from December 2013 for 12 months) in the Economics de-partment.

Dr. Glen Gorman (PhD in Psychology, Laurier) has joined our School as a post-doctoral fellow (from March 2014 to December 2014) in Marketing & Consumer Behaviour to work with Dr. Tripat Gill in the Consumer Research Lab. Dr. Gorman’s fellowship is fund-ed by SSHRC grants awarded to Dr. Tripat Gill and Dr. Zhenfeng Ma.

Dr. Xi Chen (PhD in Management, New York University) has joined our School as a post-doctoral fellow (from April 2014) in the OB/HRM area to work with Dr. Laurie Barclay.

Dr. Jun Huang (Executive Director of MBA program and Assistant to the Dean, Southwest University) has joined our School as a visiting profes-sor (from May 2014 to October 2014).

Dr. Meltem Arat (Dokuz Eylul Univer-sity) and Dr. Melih Arat (Yalova Uni-versity) will be joining our School as visiting professors (from July 2014 for 12 months) with the P&G Centre for Business & Sustainability at Laurier to complete their work on a book on hu-manistic capitalism.

Dr. Rui Zhang (Dean of Research Center for Accounting Development, School of Accounting, Jiangxi Univer-sity of Finance and Economics) will be joining our School as a visiting profes-sor (from September 2014 to February 2015).
