The New Parent Support Program (NPSP) offers education, counseling, and support to Marine Corps families and other military service members who are expectant parents, adoptive parents or families with children five and under. Families are eligible to participate free of charge in any of the services provided.

WHO ARE WE?

The NPSP is staffed by social workers, nurses, and marriage and family therapists to provide assistance, education and support to Marine Corps families.

Our staff is trained to understand the special needs of families around issues of deployment, and a mobile lifestyle. We help families adjust to a new community that may be far away from family and friends.

The NPSP staff addresses these needs through home visits, parenting classes, and educational/support groups.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FORTHIS PROGRAM?

4

The NPSP program offers young military families the skills, support and the ability to cope with the stressors resulting from deployments and separations from family and friends. The program also offers expectant families and the parents of young children the opportunity to learn new parenting skills and to understand age appropriate growth and development.

WHAT IF WE ARE NOT NEW PARENTS?

Even if you have been raising your family for a few years, new ages and stages bring different challenges. Often, adding a brother or sister to the family presents a real change in the family. The NPSP offers you the opportunity to express your concerns and ask questions about babies, young children and family relationships.
