Programme NotesArthur Broughton playing Mark the detective . The director of Laura has mad e
a name for himself in his work with the North Vancouver Community Players . Anaccomplished actor, one of his most recent stage appearances was in Arms and the Ma nwith the Everyman Theatre .
Norma Bloom-Edwards playing Bessie, will be remembered for her charmin gportrayal of Catherine Winslow in the Player's Club Alumni production of the Winslo wBoy as well as for her performance in What Every Woman Knows and Berkley Squar ewith the Player's Club .
Richard Massey, playing Shelby Carpenter, followed up Airforce Musical produc-tions during the war, on his return to civilian life with his stage appearance in th eWinslow Boy .
Thor Arngrim playing Danny . This versatile young actor has appeared in pro-ductions of the Little Theatre, Island Stock Company and in the Everyman Theatr eDrama Festival winning play for B .C., Noah.
Lois Shaw playing Laura, adds to the laurels she has already won for her appear -antes in Player's Club productions, Aria da Capo, School for Scandal, Everyman's, Arm sand the Man and for her portrayal of Alexandra in the Little Foxes .
Sally Phillips playing Mrs . Dorgan . We have heard her voice many times over th eair and she adds to her active career in the Player's Club and the Player's Club Alumn iwith her present performance .

As the main objective of the Women's Auxiliary to the Vancouver General Hospita lis to add to the care and welfare of the patients, most of the activities come under th ebroad heading of social service . Those which come within the scope of Communit yChest and Council are financed by an annual grant from that agency . The others areentirely dependent upon the money-raising efforts of the Auxiliary .
Among the latter is the free library service to public ward patients . A wide selec-tion of books and current magazines are circulated four days a week by means of amobile library truck .
Recreational facilities of a suitable nature are provided for the psychiatric ward .Upkeep is also provided for a record-player which was donated by a women's servic eclub in the city.
An ample supply of clothing is maintained for distribution to destitute patientson discharge from hospital .
The establishing and maintaining of an adequate library is our project for the ne whome for student nurses .
Artificial dentures, glasses, orthopaedic and surgical appliances are suppled toindigent patients or those in very low income brackets, upon request from the doctor son the staff of the Out-Patient Department, provided they are not eligible for help fro many other agency .
Extra treats at holiday seasons such as Christmas and Easter are given the chil-dren's wards and patients in Heather Street Annex, Glen and Grandview Hospitals.

The University Women's Club...
The University Women's Club of Vancouver was founded in 1907 and has bee nactive since that time. The purposes of the CIub are to stimulate intellectual activity ,to promote interest in, and express opinion, concerning public affairs, and to facilitat esocial intercourse and co-operation among university women . Any woman graduate of arecognized university is eligible for membership .
During the current club year fifteen Interest Groups are functioning. These covera wide range of subjects—Art, Literature, French, German, Spanish, Music Appreciation ,Play Reading, Interior Decorating, International Relations, Child Study, Red Cros sKnitting, and Red Cross Sewing .
This year the Vancouver University Women's Club will provide two bursaries of$100 each for worthy women students at the University of British Columbia, and wil lcontribute to the Scholarship Fund of the Canadian Federation of University Wome nwhich provides three scholarships for women .university students totalling $2,800 .00 .
In addition the Club maintains membership in and gives support to the Vancouve rArt Gallery, the Vancouver Symphony Society, the Community Arts Council, the Van-couver Film Council, the Friends of the Library Association, the United Nations Asso-ciation, the Canadian Educational Association, the Vancouver Housing Association an dthe Vancouver Civic Theatre Society .
