Writer’s Workshop

The workshop is designed to create a safe environment allowing students to gain self esteem by writing about topics that have a connection to his/her life.

Now, the tough part

Do not leave the list for the students to read. You must explain every item on your list, one by one.

You must honestly explain all of your topics. These topics can include but are not limited to: dreams, heartbreaks, losses, achievements, favorite items, bad and good memories, favorite pieces of literature, goals, funny stories, aspirations, etc.

After you have shared your list ask the students to share.

Remind students to add to his/her list if they hear a good idea.

HACK THE HEART

• Don’t forget about your tactile learners in the classroom.

• Make the heart interactive using the computer

• Use arts and crafts materials to make the heart “jump” off the paper.

• Get creative and get hacking.
