• Promote Brand SA internationally by showcasing innovative service delivery models:
cease to be viewed as “consumers of best practices” to be amongst “creators” and thus contributors to the repository of good governance
Why Innovation?
• Public servants need to apply innovative solutions to solve service delivery challenges including limited resources, wide-spread poverty and uneven socio-economic development.
• Many individuals and institutions in have developed creative solutions appropriate to various service delivery contexts –uneasy with the status quo.
• Replication – we cannot replicate what we don’t know: awards programmesunearth innovations for replication
Benefits
• Platform to encourage knowledge sharing
• Incentives for winners
– Prize money towards the project for sustainability (Category winners & Innovator of the Year)
– Capacity building by attending the “Leading Innovation in the Public Sector”course
– Become part of Innovators community of practice
• Possible entry in international programmes e.g. AAPAM and CAPAM Awards thus profiling South Africa internationally
