• Brazil is made up of 26 statesEach state has its own constitution and legislature.
Brazil: Type of Leadership Elected President Each state has its own elected State Governor.
Municipalities (cities) have elected mayors and deputies.
Brazil: Type of Legislature State level:
• Has its own legislature in which to make state laws.
• Citizens vote on representative for their state legislature.
National level:• National Congress
consists of 2 houses: Chamber of Deputies
Federal Senate• States vote on
representatives for each of these houses.
Brazil: Role of Citizen Age 16: All Brazilians are required to
vote by law.• Vote on state governor, mayors, deputies, members of state and national legislature, as well as the country’s president every 4 years.
