ASTM C-834

• This specification is for one component latexsealants used for sealing joints in buildingconstruction

– These types of caulks are considered medium quality

– In this specification there are different types of caulkscovered as well as grades

• Used to seal around the exteriors of windows ordoors and to fill cracks

ASTM C - 920

• The ASTM C – 920 specification was designed tocover many performance of caulks and sealantsused to seal, caulk, or glaze in buildings, plazas, decks– Types, Grades, Classes and Use designations are used to

designate performance of a particular end use

• Latex caulk formulations (like the one tested here),class 12.5 are premium quality

• Used for demanding exterior applications includingthose that see significant movement in response tochanges in temperature and/or moisture.
