Purpose of PSLE
PSLE is a “placement test”
Purpose of the PSLE is to: Assess pupils’ suitability for secondary
education. Place them in one of the appropriate
secondary school courses, which match their learning pace, ability and inclination.

It is a sum of the T-Score (Transformed Score) of the
4 subjects

• It depends on how all the other pupils in the cohort fared.
• If the average marks for : English is 80%; andScience is 55%

What is DSA–Sec Exercise? • Introduced in 2004• Participating schools are given greater flexibility
in selecting students. • They will be able to select a percentage of
their students for admission outside of the centralised posting system, via their own admission criteria, which may include academic and non-academic achievements and talents.
• Provides students the opportunity to demonstrate a more diverse range of achievements and talents in seeking admission to participating schools.
• The DSA-Sec Exercise is NOT a centralised posting exercise.
• It is an admission exercise to allow participating secondary schools to select some P6 students for admission to Secondary One (S1) based on their achievements and talents before the PSLE results are released.
• Students successfully allocated to their DSA-Sec schools will NOT be allowed to participate in the annual S1 Posting Exercise to opt for secondary schools and will NOT be allowed to transfer to another school after the release of the PSLE results.
• Successful DSA students are expected to honour their commitments to their posted DSA schools for the duration of the programme that they are admitted into.

How is the DSA–Sec Exercise conducted? The 2015 DSA-Sec Exercise will be conducted in three stages.

All students have been issued the DSA-Sec brochure and the Information note.
Parents of their P6 students must acknowledge receipt of the information note.
Exercise School Preference Stage (26 Oct 2015, 9.00 am – 30 Oct 2015, 3.00 pm)
Candidates who receive at least one DSA-Sec offer may indicate their school preferences, up to a maximum of three choices.
They can do so online via the DSA-Sec Internet System (DSA-Sec IS) or physically at their primary schools.
DSA-Sec offers not taken up will be considered as lapsed.
Singapore Sports School (SSP)
• If you have accepted an offer from Singapore Sports School, you SHOULD NOT exercise any school preference during the DSA Exercise School Preference Stage.
• You should continue to take part in the S1 Posting Exercise,
• If you do exercise your school preference during the DSA Exercise School Preference Stage, your earlier SSP offer for your child will be void.
Results Release Stage (Late November) DSA-Sec school allocation results will be released
on the same day as the release of the PSLE results If successful in the DSA-Sec application, the pupil
will NOT be eligible to participate in the S1 Posting Exercise to opt for secondary schools. He/She is also NOT allowed to transfer to another school.
If unsuccessful, the student will be provided with a S1 Option Form to participate in the S1 Posting Exercise.
Student may opt for schools that did not offer you a place under the DSA-Sec Exercise, since only a certain percentage of places in these schools were for the DSA-Sec Exercise.

• b) Appoint three schools that are currently hosting Art Elective Programme (AEP) or Music Elective Programme (MEP) as AEP and MEP centres. These centres will conduct lessons for students from non-AEP/MEP schools.

At secondary level, special provisions made for Gifted Education Programme (GEP) pupils in schools offering Integrated Programme (IP) and GCE ‘O’ Level tracks.
