FRIENDSTHINGS OF NOTE FROM THE PAST WEEK OCTOBER 10-17

Devin is BackBelieve it! After going on his world tour and a few months at home in Texas, my brother is back in New York. He got a job offer at an architecture firm here in the city a couple weeks ago and now here he is! I am so happy he’s back, I’m trying to keep him in Williamsburg so he’ll be close.

Check out Devin’s website that chronicles the 153 day trip he

took by himself through South America and parts of Europe.

ENTERTAINMENTTHINGS OF NOTE FROM THE PAST WEEK OCTOBER 10-17

TelevisionOur new favorite show is Celebrity Ghost Stories—so addicting! It’s exactly what it sounds like: celebrities telling their ghost stories with kinda decent reenactments. My favorite so far is the “Billy” Baldwin episode.

NetflixI finally saw A Single Man... gorgeous. Love it. Sad. See it.

GamingThis is not a secret: Glenn is a self-described Gamer. He is very sweet and keeps trying to find a game that will make me into a Gamer, too. I had a brief affair with Viva Piñata, but nothing has really stuck. The other day he found this new game that might just be the one: Limbo, for Xbox 360 is sorta amazing. It is all in hazy black and white; it’s quiet and sad and dreamy... maybe this is the one I’ve been waiting for?

FAVORITESTHINGS OF NOTE FROM THE PAST WEEK OCTOBER 10-17

DRYEL AT-HOME DRY CLEANING SYSTEMAmazing! This works. You toss up dry-cleaning-only items in the Dryel bag, add in the Dryel sheet, and tumble in the dryer for 30 minutes. Clothes come out clean and smelling great! This even worked on my faux-fur coat.

TAZO SWEET CINNAMON SPICE TEAThis tea smells awesome—like cinnamon and autumn and leaves changing color. The smell and taste are so rich and full, it’s almost like a meal (ok, a snack). Really good!

HARPER’S BAZAAR FALL 2010 RUNWAY REPORTUnlike the runway shows, this twice-yearly reort is timely—it comes out just when we need to be reminded of the fall shows, which we saw way back in FEBRUARY.

MOLTON BROWN WHITE MULBERRY FINE LIQUID HAND WASHEveryone agrees! This is the best handwash. The scent is really clean and fragrant, in a good way. A little expensive ($25), but worth it. It lasts at least a month and the bottle is pretty.

NARS SMUDGE PROOF EYESHADOW BASEYou put on a tiny bit of this clear base on your eyelids before putting on eyeshadow and it Will. Not. Move. All day!!

Apple ChipsIt’s apple picking season again! I always end up with more apples than I can use so I can’t believe it took me so long to try making apple chips. It’s probably the easiest apple recipe ever and maybe... the tastiest?? AND it uses up tons of apples. Check, check, and CHECK.

1Core your apple.

2Slice the apple thinly.

Using a mondoline is best.

3Arrange the slices on a

parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for about

1.5 hrs at 200˚

4Cool the chips on a wire rack so they get crispy.

AFTER AN HOUR, START CHECKING ON THEM SO THAT THEY DON’T BURN.

additions in general.

Runway MakeupNONE OF THE KOOKY STUFF, JUST PRETTY LOOKS THAT YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY WANT TO TRY.

SMOKEY EYEArmani showed a tight, smokey look that’s totally doable for day. Light grey highlights the inner corners and a spot of warm color on the brow bone softens the look.

RED LIPBright, bold lipstick

at Gucci, with an almost-nude eye and

slicked-back hair.

*MyPickYSL Pure Color Lipstick SPF 15 in #1 Le Rouge, $30.This lipstick is amazing! I think it’s the SPF that keeps your lips hydrated. The color is super intense and rich.

*MyPickMAC Eyeshadow in Humid, $14.50.MAC shadows are highly pigmented and silky; perfect for this look.

BRIGHT COLORA pop of saturated color

featured at Armani, that is actually wearable!

Concentrate tone on the lid, then fade out at the edges .

THE END

This photo was taken on a warm night this past summer, while floating on a large sailboat down the Hudson.

It was Krista’s birthday, and in a few minutes the clouds would blow away and we would be surprized with one of the best fireworks shows I have ever seen...

(see you next week! or maybe in a few days...)
