we found him dead this morning in his bedroom.

    LAZARUS IS STUNNED.

    CHUKWUMA

Dr. Peterson dead? This is terrible,[sighs]. If people couldbe so heartless to kill such a Good man, I wonder what

chances men like us have to leave this world at the right

    time.

    CHIEF

We have information that you have misunderstanding with DR.

Peterson over a federal government contract to supply

consultancy medical services to workers at the nationalassembly.

    CHUKWUMA

Yes, we are both vying to be the one to get the contract.

No, it is not a misunderstanding, there was no

misunderstanding, and its just the normal business thing.

dead, the contract is automatically yours.

    CHUKWUMA

What are you suggesting? That I killed a man because of a

    120 million naira contract?

    CHIEF

Thats a lot of money, anyone could kill for that.

    CHUKWUMA

Look, I dont care what you must have heard about me, I

know I am not a perfect man, but I have never and I will

never take any mans life because of money or anything.

    DR.AZUKA

A speeding magnum round shot at close range went straight

through his skull and into his brain damaging vital tissues

including the cerebrum. The velocity of the round caused a

serious impact that resulted in shock which eventually

    killed him.

    TIMI

    Any lead on the weapon?

    DR.AZUKA

From the bullet we retrieved from his brain we know that the

gun must probably be a shot gun, you know the one common

    among thugs in ghetto areas.

    AMAKA

Any DNA under his fingernails, or something?

    KUNLE

SITUATIONS GETTING A LITTLE HIGH TEMPO.

    TIMI

Our witness confessed that he heard you telling DR.

Peterson not to push things too far, and that he should

cherish his life. You might want to tell us what brought

    about that?

    KUNLE

I never said anything like that to anyone, if you have

strong evidence against me, why dont you charge me to

court instead of trying to pressurize me to say things I

    never did.

    TIMI

    Yes.

    AMAKA [QUESTIONINGLY]

    Motives.

    TIMI

With Peterson dead, there is no other competitor, the

    contract becomes automatically his.

    AMAKA

But its not sure he will certainly get it.He also would

have reasoned that if anything should happen to Peterson at

this period, he would be seriously suspected.

    TIMI

    TIMI

Weve got to find a way to make him talk. Hes hiding

something. Also, finding the killer wont be easy but seemslike our greatest hope into cracking this case on time.
