Swissmem Division Photonics

Swissmem‘s Photonics division is an industry network for Swissdevelopers, manufacturers and suppliers of photonic and opticalsystems and system components. It brings together 36 Swisscompanies and six universities and research institutes.

Last year, the value of the photonic products manufactured inSwitzerland amounted to CHF 3 billion, with laser materialsprocessing accounting for the lion‘s share of this volume.Switzerland‘s photonics industry employs around 9,500 people.The majority of these (26%) work in optical measuring technologyand image processing.

With 90% of its sales generated abroad, the Swiss photonicsindustry is heavily export driven. The Swiss companies operatingin this sector are distinguished by their strong technologiesand components, by their innovativeness and by the factthat they have been supplying the international market withtop-quality products for several decades.

How to get there

By flightThe expo centre is located half way between Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao Airport, 35 km away from Pudong Inter- national Airport to the east, and 32 km away from Hongqiao Airport to the west. You can take the airport bus, maglev or or metro directly to the expo center.

By trainFrom Shanghai Railway Station or Shanghai South Railway Station please take metro line1 to People’s Square, then take metro line 2 toward Pudong International Airport Station and get off at Longyang Road Station to change line7 to Huamu Road Station.From Hongqiao Railway Station, please take metro line 2 to Longyang Road Station and change line 7 to Huamu Road Station.

By transrapid (maglev train)The maglev only takes 8 minutes directly from Pudong Airport to Long Yang Rd, where SNIEC is located, and is running every 15 or 20 minutes. From Pudong International Airport to Longyang Road, drop off at Longyang Road Station, operate between 6:45-21:40 at Longyang Road Station and between 7:02-21:42 at Airport, RMB50/ trip without air ticket, RMB 40/trip with air ticket, RMB80/return trip. And then take metro line 7 to Huamu Road Station.

By subwayPlease take metro line 7 and get off at Huamu Road Station, you can arrive at SNIEC directly.Take metro Line 3 or Line 4 to Zhongshan Park, Line 1 or Line 8 to People’s Square, Line 4 or Line 6 to Century Avenue, then change to metro Line 2 towards Pudong International Airport Station and get off at Longyang Road Station to change line7 to Huamu Road Station.metrodirectly to the expo center.
