1. Decrease by 30% the number of containers in CMTS that have non-PDF MSDSs attached.

9/30/2013 In Progress

Jose Caraballo

CMTS had ~1600 non-pdf MSDSs in system. It is a safety concern to not have complete MSDS sheets associated with specific containers. As of 3/15/13, 1234 non-pdf MSDSs remained in CMTS – a 22.8% drop.

2. Conduct chemical handling training course for lab personnel.

6/30/2013In

Progress

Jose Caraballo

Lab Safety training will include Hazardous Waste Disposal & Spill Response. 2 courses are planned in April and 1 during June SHAW.

3. Update LARC-PROC-11 NASA Purchase Card Program course to better address LaRC’s Form 44 requirements.

6/30/2013 In

Progress

 Lynn Curtis

Safety and SPEEB completed slide content with input from Lynn Curtis. Donna Reed/OP to update P-Card SATERN training and/or send presentation by email to all P-Card holders. P-Card users to get periodic environmental updates from Donna.

Regulated WasteRecognizing HM as a potential hazardous waste (HW). Ensure that facility

personnel are aware of HM management polices (CMTS, Form 44’s) and disposal requirements.

Starting to be more stringent in area of Waste Management compliance in the Multi-Media Environmental Audits.

Addressing/enforcing Waste Management Plan requirements in LF 461/Project Review process to ensure that HM and HW used/generated in projects are identified.

How Can EMC Members Assist With Hazardous Materials & Regulated Waste Management?

• Pursue within respective organizations correction of Multi-Media Environmental Audit findings.

• Form relationships with your FEC’s and discuss environmental issues associated with your facility.

• Get involved with the 461 process associated with your organizational projects.
