In 1916 a family of pilgrim guides are still living a traditional Bedouin life in the Jordanian desert. Margherita’s got a lot on her plate; she’s in the middle of directing a film starring a somewhat erratic actor (a very funny John Turturro), and she also has to cope with moving out of her boyfriend’s apartment and an emotional teenage daughter. Then she hears that her mother is terminally ill. The action shifts between the film and real life as Margherita endeavours to survive, as best she can.

Winner of the best documentary award at the Edinburgh Film Festival and the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, this remarkable film documents the extraordinary story of the six Angulo brothers, for 17 years almost completely confined to their small New York apartment. Their only access to the outside world is through movies, which they watch avidly and then act out, making sets, props and costumes from scrap materials. Finally, they have to make the terrifying transition to the outside world.

Based on Bill Bryson’s very funny memoir, this is the story of his return to the U.S. after spending two decades in England. In an effort to reconnect with his homeland he decides to hike the 2,200 miles of the Appalachian Trail. His imagined idyll of relaxation and tranquillity in stunning scenery turns into something quite different when he’s joined by Katz, one of his oldest friends.
