-Javanese is primarily spoken in central, east, and north coast of west Java, one of the
thousands of Indonesian islands, and Suriname. Javanese is also spoken in Madura,Bali, Lombok, Madagascar, and the Sunda region of wet Java. Approximately 80 million
people speak Javanese.
-In the Austronesian family there are no branches. Javanese evolved from the Pallava
alphabet, the earliest records being dated from the 4th century A.D. By the 10th century
the Kawi alphabet had developed from the Pallava alphabet and contained a distinct
Javanese from. The current form of writing in Javanese had been developed in the 17thcentury when the Japanese, who were in Indonesia at the time, banned the alphabet.
-In the language of Javanese, three principle dialects are recognized along with many
sud-dialects. The three principle dialects are western, central, and eastern Javanese, the
primary variance occurring in pronunciation and some differences in spelling.
-The Latin alphabet, being introduced by the Dutch, is the main form of writing for
scholars studying the language, and for decoration. But the main alphabet remains fromthe evolved form of Pallava. Below are the numerals written in Javanese.

enriched by a great number of local languages; its also a lingua franca.

-Malagasy in primarily spoken in Madagascar, Mayotte, and Comoros and is
spoken by about 17 million people.
- Malagasy shares much of its basic vocabulary with the Ma'anyan language, a
language from the region of the Barito River in southern Borneo. This indicates
that Madagascar was first settled by Austronesian people from the Malay
Archipelago who had passed through Borneo.
-Malagasy contains two principle dialects including the eastern (Merina) andwestern (Sakalava) dialects. The dialects are distinguished by several
phonological features. Sakalava lost final naval consonants, whereas Merina
added a voiceless [ ]: Malagasy has been written using the Latin script since
1823, before which the Arabic Ajami script, or Sorabe ("large writings") as it is
known in Madagascar, was used for astrological and magical texts.
- Below is some Malagasy Arabic script
