Read the passage below and then answer the questions “All about
ants”.
1. The Queen Ant makes the rules. No rules can be
changed unless her majesty says so.
2. All worker ants must be on duty when the weather is
fine. When it is raining, all ants must return to the
nest.
3. Ants must not carry more than five times their own
weight.
4. Any ant who finds food must report it to the rest of
the colony.
5. The soldier ants will tell which worker ants are to
get the food.
6. The Queen and her babies must be fed first. When
they have finished, other ants can eat in the dining
room.
7. Soldier ants must warn all ants when anteaters are
nearby.

Read the recipe to make Banana ice. Answer
true or false to the statements below. Try
making your own Banana ice!
Ingredients
3 bananas
2 egg whites
25 g sugar
lemon juice
food colouring
Equipment
Mixing bowl
Small bowl
Fork
Whisk

Procedure
1. Wash your hands and put on an apron.
2. Peel the bananas and put them in the small bowl.
Mash them with the fork and add a few drops of
lemon juice.
The lemon juice will stop the bananas going brown.
3. Put the egg whites in the mixing bowl and whisk them
until they stand up in stiff peaks.
4. Add the mashed bananas and sugar to the egg
white and whisk until the mixture becomes quite stiff.
5. Add a few drops of the food colouring and mix until
the colour is spread through the mixture.
6. Spoon mixture into serving dishes. Add some sprinkles
or coconut slices to the top if you wish.
