Requirements: A three-year degree/NQF level 7 with English or Afrikaans as major and the other language at second-year level Passing the standard language test set by the directorate At least three years’ experience in translation or editing of texts of a complex nature Ability to edit and translate academic texts from the relevant college (substantive, copy and technical editing) Ability to liaise with authors/academics in order to resolve queries in respect of texts Excellent computer skills in office automation packages such as word processing, email, electronic diary and internet Good interpersonal and communication skills Recommendations: Extensive experience in doing language work for organisations such as government and/or other large public or private sector organisations A qualification in linguistics and / or editing and /or translation Exposure to distance education materials and knowledge of outcomes-based education and open distance learning Teaching experience in languages for which qualified, and related experience in marking external language examinations Academic qualifications and translating/editing experience in at least one of the following fields of knowledge: law, economic and management sciences, and science, engineering and technologies Duties Edit texts of differing complexity in English and Afrikaans Translate from English to Afrikaans and vice versa Liaise with authors/academics to resolve queries Compile terminology lists as necessary Compare and prepare manuscripts for printing Assumption of duty : As soon as possible Remuneration is commensurate with the seniority of the position osing date : 13 June 2014 Enquiries : (012) 429-4992 Ms LJ Ash HR Staffing The completed prescribed application form must be accompanied BY COMPREHENSIVE CURRICULUM VITAE and ORIGINAL certified copies (within the previous six months) of;
