Links with Our Community
Visit to the Local Museum
We explored the historical links between Ireland and Spain
Claudia (The educational officer) and our Spanish teacher explained some of the links
Some of the links:
•Rock Art,•St Brendan voyage,•The walk of Santiago,•The Dún an Óir siege,•The Spanish Armada, etcS
The galleon “Santa María de la Rosa” sank near the Blasket islands and it’s still under the sea!

We had a table quiz in which we had to look for information and pictures around the panels.
We were timed with a stop watch!

We visited a 2nd year Spanish class in Mounthawk secondary school
We showed projects and performed songs and conversations.
Visits from Guest Speakers
With our guest speakers we:
• Practised our Spanish
• Talked about the experience of learning a foreign language and living in a Spanish speaking country
• Played traditional games from Spain on the school yard
• Showed our “Rincón del español” and sang a few Spanish songs
• Gave a card to our guest saying “Muchas gracias”, decorated and signed by the whole class!

We also played the traditional game ‘El pañuelo’ with her.
Her giant puppets talked to us in Spanish!
