Pacific Interpreters Telephone Interpretation:

All schools and administrative offices of the School District of Philadelphia have FREE access to telephonic interpretation through Pacific Interpreters. When should I use the service?• When no trained interpreter is available.• To ensure privacy and confidentiality.• When you don’t know what language the parent speaks.

Can I use an untrained interpreter?• Avoid using a parent’s family member, friend, minor children,

volunteers or untrained staff, which may result in inaccuracy, breaches of confidentiality, failure to obtain critical information, or liability to the District.

How do I access a telephone interpreter?• Call Pacific Interpreters: 1-866-874-3972. • Provide School District Client ID#507454 • Provide your Access Code. To get the code for your school or

office, call the Translation & Interpretation Center at 215-400-4180 Option 4.

• Provide your name and department, office or school.

• Identify the language needed. If unknown, the agent can usually identify the language by speaking with the parent.

What happens then?• Usually you will be connected

to an interpreter in less than 30 seconds.

• If the parent is with you in person, use the speakerphone.

• If the parent is on the telephone, use the conference feature or ask the agent to arrange a conference call.
