GEOS Languages PLUS - Programs

Levels & ClassesOn the fi rst day of class, students will take a language test that analyzes their grammar, vocabulary, listening, and speaking. Our evaluation of levels is based on the Common European Framework of Languages. Each level typically takes 12 weeks to complete.

In Canada and the USA, GEOS Languages PLUS tests students every week. In Europe, GEOS Languages PLUS gives students one major examination after every three-month semester. The students go over their results and academic progress during a one-on-one counseling session with one of their teachers. All GEOS Languages PLUS schools issue to students a certifi cate upon successful completion of their course.

Sample Curriculum INTEGRATED SKILLS CLASS: Students learn the four skills - reading, writing, speaking, and listening - through a “Communicative Language Teaching” methodology with new grammar patterns in the context of a conver-sation or a real-life situation. ACTIVE LISTENING CLASS: Students cover a variety of topics while practicing English conversation manage-ment, and pronunciation. Students learn commonly-used idioms and slang in a communicative way.

GEOS Languages PLUS - Pathways Program

This is the fi rst time I have ever said “Wow! I’m

proud of myself.” My graduation is just ahead, and I

am ready to transfer to a university. I now think back

to the beginning of my English study at GEOS. I started

from beginner class and fi nished in the advanced

class. Through my English studies at GEOS, I learned

that the most important thing to do for your English is

repetition. While I shared my daily event in class every

day, I suddenly noticed, “I know a lot of vocabulary.”

Also my favorite class activity was the presentations.

Of course, everyone gets nervous the fi rst time, but I

realized it is actually fun. A lot of my experiences in

GEOS gave me confi dence. Therefore, I wasn’t worried

about anything when I started studying at El Camino

College.

Although I have learned so many things there as well,

GEOS is the most special for me.

GEOS Languages PLUS - Language Coop Program - Canada

I am very thankful for the program and all staff at GEOS Languages Plus who helped me to have this opportunity.

I have improved my English skills at GEOS Languages Plus by taking a variety of courses. The time I have spent at the school was really valuable for my

language study, however, the time I spent working was also very benefi cial.

I took as many courses as possible at GEOS Languages Plus, such as TESL and TEC programs. By the time I graduated, I had taken almost all of the courses, and had improved my English skills a lot. Although I was still afraid of my English skills a little bit when I left the school, I could continue my studies by practically reviewing what I have learned at school while I worked. Since I have also done an internship as a school agent, not only was I able to use my English skills to cooperate with ESL schools, but was also able to use my TESL skill to teach some mini English classes to students. In addition, I learned many new expressions from my co-workers which I couldn’t learn at school.

I have no doubt that my working experience in Canada has contributed to my English skills as well as my school life. I am truly grateful for the opportunity.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration in reading my letter. I strongly hope that future students who are eager to learn can get the same quality of support for the co-op Visa.

Yours faithfully,

Yuta Inoue

Hi, I'm Adrian. I am from Mexico. I came to GEOS to improve my English. I need English to transfer to the university. I really enjoyed my time here, and I have met a lot of people from diff erent countries. It was very interesting to discover diff erent cultures. The teachers were all amazing, interesting, and cool! I really recommend it! If you choose GEOS you will not make a mistake! Thank you!.

Name of Student: Adrian

Name of Country: Mexico

My name is Jenny. I am from Taiwan. I will go to high school in Victoria, Canada after I fi nish classes at GEOS. I was very shy when I came to GEOS in the beginning. I was very shy and couldn't talk to anyone. But the teachers helped me a lot. They have a lot of activities, group discussion during classes. These helped me to know more about my classmates. I become more comfortable with my school life. And I made many good friends here. I like the cafeteria at GEOS as well, students gather together and talk during lunch time. It was a great way to make friends. I really like studying at GEOS.

My name is Laura, and I am from Brazil. My experience at GEOS was very good because the teachers and staff are excellent. They create great activities for learning English. My classmates were also great. I was able to meet students from many diff erent countries and cultures. Also, the school was located in a good area with many restaurants and stores around. Costa Mesa is close to the beaches, to Los Angeles, and to other famous, beautiful cities. I would defi nitely recommend GEOS to any student looking for a good place to study English.

I decided to go to GEOS because one of my friends recommended it to me. When I started my course I was not confi dent with my English skills but step by step I'm improving. I'm very happy with my classmates and teachers. Also, the classes are funny and we spend a lot of time practising speaking and listening. This is good for me because speaking and listening are my weak points.I will spend 6 months at GEOS. I think at the end of my studies I will be ready to use English at work, for my other studies, and in social situations. I would recommend all people who are thinking about improving their English to choose GEOS. It's a great experience and I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Hello, I'm Kristina. I'm from Russia. I have been at GEOS for 4 months. I like it because I can learn not only English, but also a lot of things about American culture. It was really fun to spend time with people from other countries. All classes are very helpful and all teachers are really nice. I'm sure that if you come to GEOS you will have a lot of experiences and it would be a great memory in your life.

Hello, my name is Lukas. I'm from the Czech Republic. I came to GEOS to improve my English. I need English for my high school and college, which might be in California. I had a great time and met many new friends. The teachers at GEOS were great and made studying fun. I really don't regret that I came to GEOS. If you want to study English, go to GEOS-the best English school ever! Thank you!

I have taken the GEOS High School Preparation Program. I have learned a lot of things and have been supported by a lot of people through my high school life in Victoria. Needless to say, one of my supporters was GEOS Victoria. For the fi rst 5 months, I went to GEOS to prepare for studying at a local high school. I studied not only English but also Math, Chemistry and so on. During that time, I met people with diff erent backgrounds so I felt culture shock; however, I eventually found out it was fun to see cultural diff erences. I was able to prepare for my studies before I went to high school so I did not fall behind. When I entered high school, I still kept studying private lessons at GEOS. I disliked studying because everything was very tough but the tutors taught me how to study. Thanks to them, I learned the pleasure of studying. They were very kind and taught me patiently and in detail all of the time until I got to understand. I was very happy when I was able to understand the problem which I had not been able to do by myself. I have learned a lot in 3 years. Thank you so much GEOS and

Victoria. I'd like to make good use of this experience for my university life in the U.S..

Malta where the sun shines the whole year round on its North African-like landscape!

Although geographically small, Malta is culturally rich, boasting some of the oldest free-standing struc-

diff erent global powers, Malta’s last foreign rulers, the British, gave the island the English language which

is one of its two offi cial languages along with Maltese. The climate, however, is far from British - being

in the middle of the Mediterranean, it is mild for most of the year with hot, sunny summers that attract

holiday makers from Europe as well as further afi eld.

Sprachcaff e/GEOS’ Malta school is a refl ection of the typical Maltese mixture of Mediterranean and British styles - the

complex is located in the former British military area of Pembroke with our student residences housed in converted

colonial era barracks. In the middle of the complex, however, is a large swimming pool with palm trees where stu-

dents can relax, enjoy the sun and get to know other students between and after lessons. Educational facilities are

also located in the complex along with a café, restaurant and beach volley ball pitches so students have everything

they need for a short-term education holiday or a longer-term intensive academic course.
