    The events centre wasalready on the radar ofmost sports groups in B.C.when, in the summer of2014, it was announcedthat the Vancouver Stealthprofessional lacrosse team

    would move to the LEC fromEverett, Wash.

    The Stealth plays host toteams from across the con-tinent. National LacrosseLeague teams from cities

    such as Colorado, Minnesota,Toronto, Rochester, Calgary,and Saskatoon visit the LECto play the Stealth.

    Take the Stealth out of theequation, and the LEC is stillthe place.

    The multi-use facility grewexponentially in 2013, aspart of a $7.725 million pro-ject announced that year.

    The expansion includeda double gym, field houselocated east of the main

    building, an indoor turf/dryfloor facility, a new changeroom, storage, and supportspace.

    The LEC is also home tothe Langley Rivermen juniorA hockey team as well asTrinity Western University’svarsity basketball, volleyball,and hockey teams.

    In the summer months,the Western LacrosseAssociation’s Langley

    Thunder play their homegames at the LEC.Langley’s sports landscape

    changed dramatically in June2009, when the LEC official-ly opened its doors to thepublic.

    On top of the recent addi-tions, the facility has a triplegymnasium, gymnasticsfacility, arena bowl with aseating capacity of up to5,500 people, and banquetspace.

    drawn big crowds to theirNational Lacrosse Leaguehome openers at the LangleyEvents Centre.

    local landscape.

    Golf is usually a year-round recrea-tion along B.C.’s temperate West

    Coast, including Langley, and thereare a huge assortment of courses to

    choose from in the community.The newest addition to the local golf com-

    munity is Pagoda Ridge Golf Course.The par 72, 18 hole course at 7887 264th

    St. plays just beyond 7,000 yards from theback tees. Owned by Lyall and Verna Brown,Pagoda Ridge opened Aug. 1, 2012.

    Along with Pagoda Ridge, Langley is teedup for about as much golf as an enthusiastcan handle.

    Golf courses range from the executiveNewlands (21025 48th Ave.) and PoppyEstates (3834 248thSt.) to the Redwoods18-hole course at 22011 88th Ave., whichincludes a practice facility.

    The Fort Langley Golf Course (9782

    McKinnon Cres.) offers a par 71, 18-holecourse.

    Tall Timber Golf Course’s 18 holes, at23523 56th Ave., remain a family-run busi-ness that includes a practice facility.

    Belmont Golf Course, a full length cham-pionship course at 22555 Telegraph Tr.opened in 1992 and features six par threesand four sets of tees.

    For the more casual golfer, the LangleyGolf Centre (21550 44th Ave.) is a par threecourse that has appealed to all levels since1980.
