LANDYN TAHJ
by
A Yarn of
Serendipity
Pam-Knighton Haener
Landyn Tahj is the sixth square in a series designed as a legacy for my grandchildren. Landyn has a wicked sense of humor, is highly spirited and does not hesitate to voice his opinion. He has lots of sharp edges but the biggest heart you will ever know. Oh, and he LOVES basketball! Hook/Finished Size: 4.5 mm hook, 11”; 5.00 mm hook, 12” Crochet Terms: US terminology throughout Yarn and Colors Used: I Love This Cotton (Worsted Weight), 100% cotton

Standing Stitch • Start with a slipstitch on hook;
• insert hook into designated stitch or chain space and finish the stitch as normal.
Video at Moogly
Invisible Join • Do not join after completing last stitch of the rnd;
• cut yarn and pull yarn tail through the stitch;
• remove hook and insert it from back-to-front of the 2nd stitch of rnd; grab yarn and gently pull through.
• insert hook from back-to-front and bottom-to-top of center of last stitch of rnd;
• pull yarn gently through and weave in end.
FPsc
• Insert hook from front-to-back-to-front around post, so post is in front of hook; yo and pull up a loop;
• yo and pull through remaining 2 loops on hook.
~ LANDYN TAHJ ~ A Yarn of Serendipity Page 2 of 11
FPhdc • Yo, insert hook from front-to-back-to-front around the
post, so post is in front of hook;
• yo, pull up a loop;
• yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook.
FPdc • Yo, insert hook from front-to-back-to-front around the
post, so post is in front of hook;
• yo, pull up a loop;
• yo, pull through 2 loops on hook;
• yo, pull through the final 2 loops on hook.
BPdc • Yo, insert hook from back-to-front-to-back around post,
so post is in back of hook; yo, pull up a loop;
• yo, pull through 2 loops on hook;
• yo, pull through the final 2 loops on hook.
2dc-cluster
• Yo, insert hook into next stitch, yo, pull up a loop; yo, pull though 2 loops on hook;
• yo, insert hook into same stitch, yo, pull up a loop; yo pull through 2 loops on hook;
• yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook.
3dc-cluster
• Yo, insert hook into next stitch, yo, pull up a loop; yo, pull though 2 loops on hook;
• [yo, insert hook into same stitch, yo, pull up a loop; yo pull through 2 loops on hook] twice;
• yo, pull through all 4 loops on hook.
FPtr • Yo twice, insert hook from front-to-back-to-front around
post, so post is in front of hook; yo, and pull up a loop;
• [yo through two loops] three times;
• yo and pull through all 3 loops on hook.
dc3tog • [Yo, insert hook through next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo
and pull through two loops] three times;
• yo, pull through all 4 loops on hook.
dc4tog • [Yo, insert hook through next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo and
pull through two loops] four times;
• yo, pull through all 5 loops on hook.
FLO When instructed to work into the "front loops only" insert your hook under the front loop ONLY. Form and complete the stitch as usual. The Spruce Crafts
BLO When instructed to work into the "back loops only" insert your hook under the back loop ONLY. Form and complete the stitch as usual. The Spruce Crafts
Symbol Guide ASTERISKS: * to* means that the steps following the asterisk are repeated in order, the number of times shown. Example *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc); ch 1, skip 2 sts; [(dc, ch 1, dc in next st), ch 1, skip 3 sts] twice; (dc, ch 1, dc), ch 1, skip 2 sts*; REPEAT FROM *to* 3 MORE TIMES
PARENTHESIS: ( ) indicates a group of sts worked together in the same st. Example: (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc)
BRACKETS: [ ] Work the sts between the brackets the number of times shown. Example: [(dc, ch 1, dc in next st), ch 1, skip 3 sts] twice
COUNT TOTALS: Chains are included in the stitch count; corner spaces are not included in the total. Example: Counts: 20 sc, 24 hdc, 32 dc, 8-2dc clusters, 16 tr, 4-ch 2 corner sps (100 total/25 per side)

FINISHING
I recommend blocking to put the finishing touches on your square. Blocking allows you to reach your final shape and
size. It opens up your stitches, making them even and more defined; giving it a more professional appearance.
You can either wet block or steam block, but always make sure you are careful when steam blocking acrylic yarn.
