What the Commissioners will be looking for:

Nominations will be scored using 5 different categories on a scale from 1 to 5; with 5 being the highest score

1. Overall Appearance: How the home / business looks at first glance. Must appear clean and have an organized garden.

2. Structural Appearance: How the home / business structure coincides with the landscape. Architectural design, paint, cleanliness and upkeep.

3. Landscape Appearance: How the home/ business incorporates design, maintenance, color, organization, and creativity.

4. Irrigation: Water efficient irrigation (is there a system in place).

5. Drought Friendly Techniques: Minimal turf, plants with similar water needs grouped together, water-permeable ground cover or hardscape, rain garden or rain barrel.

My Home/Business Makes Carson Beautiful The City of Carson Beautification Commission has created an award program to recognize the landscape and gardens of homes and businesses that make Carson a welcoming and colorful City. Based on completed applications received, the Beautification Commission will select one home and one business every month to receive an award. On an annual basis, one award winning home and one award winning business will be selected to receive the Mayor’s Award.
