Michael Affeldt 40TDirector

40TMichael Affeldt is the Director of the LARiverWorks team in LA Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Office of City Services, under the leadership of Deputy Mayor Barbara Romero. The LARiverWorks team focuses on implementing the City's LA River Revitalization Master Plan through project development, coordination, policy, and engagement with community members and partner organizations. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan and became an Angeleno in 2006

40TLos Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis

40TTeresa Villegas is currently senior advisor to Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis. Her portfolio includes all water, park/conservation finance, planning and air issues as they pertain to her district. Prior to joining Supervisor Solis she worked for LA County Supervisor Gloria Molina.

40TMs. Villegas also served as an Executive Fellow for the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and researched air quality issues for the California Air Resources Board at their Sacramento headquarters. She was responsible for evaluating and providing recommendations to improve the State’s Environmental Justice Program.

40TMs. Villegas also served as Legislative Director in the Capitol office for the Trust for Public Land, where she advocated for statewide conservation legislation and budget measures. In this capacity, she also played a leading role in numerous statewide park and water initiatives. To date, these efforts have lead to the development of numerous parks, open space, and improved water quality protection for Californians.

40TMs. Villegas has served on various commissions and committees for the City of Los Angeles including the Citizens Oversight and Advisory Committee for Proposition O - Los Angeles City Water Bond. Ms. Villegas serves as a Board Member to a local environmental group, Mujeres de la Tierra and has served other statewide environmental organizations including Planning and Conservation League and California State Parks – Off Roading Commissioner and California ReLeaf. She is an active member of Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE) and an avid swimmer.

Ms. Villegas graduated from 40TCalifornia State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Human Resources.
