“Land of Ice”Story of the week-lesson 11
nuzzledIf an animal nuzzled against you, it would be rubbing you
with its face or nose.
nuzzledWhen the weather was stormy, the mother horse nuzzled her colt with
her soft face to comfort him and keep him warm.
The colt must have felt very safe when his mother nuzzled her face
against him.Have you ever had a pet nuzzle
against you? How did it make you feel?

springy way, like a horse.

The colt was happy and excited as he pranced. He was having a good time.

When something is raging, it is happening in a strong or out-of-control way.

was a raging blizzard.
I remember a raging storm with thunder, lightning and very strong
winds. Do you remember a raging storm? What did it sound like? How did it
make you feel?

storm were raging outside? Why or why not?
What are some things other than the weather that could be raging?
Tell what the ocean might look like if it were raging.

If an animal or thing adapts to a place, it has body parts or ways of acting that help it live there.

I use a heavy coat to help me adapt to cold weather, or live
comfortably in it. What else do we use to help us adapt
to cold weather?

swim instead of fly. Which animal do you think is the

I’m glad I do not inhabit a place that is so cold. It would be hard to live
there and to go to school. Would you like to inhabit this place?
