Dear Parents and Friends, HALF DAY CLOSE FOR PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS – WEDNESDAY 27 JUNE – 12 NOON The Regional Director, Mr James Webb, has again agreed for our school to configure our school day for the important purpose to have discussions with parents about the Semester 1 Reports. As our Semester 1 Reports will be sent home on Monday 25 June, we have decided upon Wednesday 27 June 2018, an opportunity to meet formally with your child’s teacher/s. A formal note will be sent home later this term, inviting you to make a booking. This will take the following format:
* Booking sheets will be held in the front office. Telephone bookings can be made by ringing Mrs Kelly Wells or Mrs Kate Freegard on 9655 1007
* Please ensure that you are on time as only 10 minutes per interview is being allocated.
* The interview process will be an adult conversation only.
You are advised to pre prepare questions and have them written down if necessary. You are asked to make arrangements for your child to be picked up at 12 noon on this day. If you are unable to pick up your child by the scheduled 12.00 pick-up time, please contact the school Reception and register your child’s name. Group supervision will be provided for your child in the school Art Room until scheduled closing time which is 2.30pm as it is an early close on Wednesday. ART SHOW – WEDNESDAY 27 JUNE (12 NOON – 5.00PM) Our annual Art show will be held on the same day in the Library. Mrs Campbell has been working hard in selecting art pieces from every student in our school to be displayed in the Library during the afternoon. We invite parents to, before or after the interviews with classroom teachers, visit our Library where your child’s art pieces will be for sale for prices ranging between $2.00 and $5.00. The money raised from the Art Show will assist us with our annual concert budget. We thank you for your support to our school. OCEAN DRIVE SAFETY UPGRADE We have been advised that due to current upgrades to Ocean Drive our Bus
services might be delayed to arrive at school or arrive later at drop off points during
this year. As a school, we have decided to be flexible with the running operations of
our Breakfast Club. We will ensure that the students still have something to eat
before they get to classes for the day. If there are any issues, please do not hesitate
to contact us at school.
BREAKFAST CLUB We need some assistants with the running of our Breakfast Club in the mornings. If
you are available to assist us please contact us at school. We appreciate all the
assistance we can get from our Parent Community.

AUSTRALIA CHILDREN’S UNIVERSITY INFO SESSION CUA is hosted and administered by the University of Adelaide. As a partner, Children’s University Edith Cowan provides extra-curricular learning opportunities for children aged between 7–14 years (and 5-6 year olds with their families). We are planning an information session to Parents and Student on Tuesday 29 May, at 9.00 am in the Library. Please join us on the day to get more information about how you can assist your child with this program to effectively enhance academic achievement and increase ambition. The model is relatively simple: it offers superior educational experiences to children outside of school and recognises their achievements through the award with formal certificates. The model leverages local educational and learning activity providers including sports clubs, museums, galleries and school clubs. A strong emphasis is placed on acknowledging the value of accessing the wide range of learning experiences and environments in which children engage. The CUA is supported by the Federal Government through the Higher Education Participation Program funding. This funding has enabled CUA to secure its place as the first Children’s University in the Asia Pacific Region. As the nurturing of successful, independent learners lies at the heart of our pedagogy at this school, we would love to take this opportunity to be a part of this new initiative. For children to develop resilience, optimism and confidence, to have the opportunity for self-directed learning beyond the classroom is key. Our endeavour is to foster wellbeing by promoting “free range learning”, encouraging our students to try out new activities, discover new passions, visit new places and, above all, have fun. Our staff members are very excited and are planning new clubs to run at school, before, during and after school. Please join us on Tuesday 29 May to meet the organisers of the program and ask some questions. Tea and coffee
will be available after the information session.
