EGGER laminate floors are equipped with antistatic technology. Electrical discharge can therefore be kept to a new minimum, even working with rubber soles.

There are no strict provisions for living and com-

mercial spaces with regard to electrical discharge,

but there should be enough antistatic covering to

ensure a relaxed feeling. Sudden discharge at very

low amperage is not a health hazard, but regular

shocks due to charging and discharging influ-

ence the quality of life. EGGER laminate flooring

is equipped with technology that significantly

diminishes the build-up of potential differences.

Operating theatres, computer rooms, and areas for

high-frequency surgery must even have conducting

floor coverings.

→ An antistatic floor covering prevents electric shocks and contributes to well-being

→ EGGER floors prevent persons charging to the extent that the measured voltage remains under 2000 Volt - a significant added value, which testifies to great quality

→ The walking test according to EN 1815 measures the charge accumulated by a person in a test chamber especially prepared for the purpose

→ Classification as antistatic floor covering is specified by EN 14041 (CE)

→ With regard to antistatic properties, EGGER laminate flooring has properties that exceed the requirements of EN 13329

→ The antistatic property of EGGER laminate flooring does not fulfil the special requirements that apply to operating theatres and computer rooms

and may be designated as such.

Striking surface textures not only give the floors an authentic character. EGGER also guarantees tested and certified anti-slip properties.

EGGER floors are not only safe to walk on, but

exceed standard requirements for anti-slip

properties. Laminate flooring is divided in use

classes according to field of application and

stress level (EN 13329). The R10 classification

places them above the normal requirements for

private rooms, where they respond to an increased

safety need. R10 classification also allows use in

hotels and restaurants, as well as in work spaces

with increased slipping hazard. The Barrique

synchropore completes the R10 product family

Authentic, Vintage and Grand Canyon.

→ EGGER surfaces with R10 classification offer the end user more safety, as well as more living and walking comfort

→ EGGER laminate floors are easy to clean, in spite of the special surfaces.

→ Testing method for anti-slip properties is the walking procedure on the inclined surface

→ A detailed assignment of work rooms and work areas to the evaluation groups (R-classes) is found in the Employer's Liability Insurance Association Rules (BGR) bulletin 181

→ R10 classification: The tilt/acceptance angle is between 10 and 19 degrees

Sunlight contains UV light, which has a strong

decomposing effect on colour pigments. But there

are ways to stop this process. EGGER regularly

investigates the floors in the collection, in order to

improve their behaviour when exposed to light. All

floor coverings in the current collection correspond

to level 6 of the Blue Scale. During this testing

procedure, described in EN 20105-B02, coverings

are irradiated with a blue wool strip in a light

test chamber, and the discolouration of strip and

surface are compared. The third highest level of the

Blue Scale means that the colour surfaces largely

maintain their fastness even in the case of intensive

solar radiation.

Colours and materials that are permanently exposed to the strong effect of the sun will start to fade. This is not the case for EGGER floors as they are resistant to UV light.

COLOURS THAT STAY

→ General light fastness requirements are regulated by the standards EN 13329 and EN 15468, reviewed in the end of 2014 and beginning of 2015, respectively.

→ The UV resistance of laminate flooring and elastic floor coverings is tested with the testing procedure outlined in EN 20105-B02 and EN 20105-A02.

→ On the Blue Scale from 1 to 8, the light fastness of EGGER flooring achieves a 6.

→ Level 6 on the Blue Scale means that colour fastness in closed rooms remains largely in place even in the case of intensive sun exposure.

→ When compared to other floor coverings, such as parquet, carpet, PVC, and linoleum with PU topcoat, laminate floors test particularly well with regard to light fastness.

FACT BOX

Depending on layout, areas of the floor may be

exposed regularly to sunlight. Nevertheless, there

will be no optical irregularities in the case of a

good laminate floor.

Page 81: Laminate Flooring Project Range 2015-2017

79EGGER LAMINATE FLOORING

T E S T E D L I G H T F A S T N E S S .

As described by the testing method

EN 20105-B02, elements such as parquet or

laminate are covered with a blue wool strip and

placed in light. Following this, the section in

the light is compared to the covered section.

Laminate floors barely fade for long periods

of time during this test procedure - a striking

difference from, for example, parquet.

Page 82: Laminate Flooring Project Range 2015-2017

The right underlay is critical for the comfort and durability of a laminate floor. It protects against moisture and cold feet, insulates noise and prevents cracked profiles.

EGGER system underlays permanently and

significantly reduce ambient noise that is produced

when walking across a floor in a room. In addition,

they also strongly decrease footfall noise, which is

transmitted through screeds, bare floors, and walls.

It is mainly heard in the rooms immediately below.

The underlays ensure a pleasant room acoustic in the

home and for the neighbours.

→ When installing an EGGER laminate floor, it is recommended to use the SILENZIO system underlay mat.

→ For EGGER laminate flooring that is laminated with an underlay (SILENZIO), no additional underlay for sound insulation is required. However on mineral sub-surfaces, a moisture protection film has to be installed as vapour barrier first, covering the entire area and extending up the walls.

→ When installing on mineral sub-surfa-ces, the aqua+ Aluflex vapour barrier (sd-value above 75 m) should be used.

→ Important: The information regarding underlay requirements provided by the laminate floor manufacturer in the installation instructions must be observed.

→ Additional information concerning underlay mats is available from EGGER's Technical Customer Service or on the internet page of the European Producers of Laminate Flooring (EPLF): www.eplf.com

Laminate flooring is the right product for those who value healthy and environmentally friendly materials. This contemporary floor technology protects both the forest and the respiratory ways.

A laminate floor is the result of highly developed

technology - and still it is made almost 100 percent

of the renewable resource wood. In the case of

EGGER floors, the wood comes from PEFC certified

forests, old wood, or waste from the sawmill

industry. Laminate floors do not only protect the

environment, but also ensure good ambient air.

They do not contain any softeners or PVC, the decor

image is made of water-soluble dyes. In addition,

emissions are way below thresholds. The long

life cycle and the easy disposal are also good for

the environment: A laminate floor can be entirely

recycled.

→ EGGER uses only wood from forests with proven sustainable management for the laminate floorings. The PEFC certificate guarantees this

→ No use of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and softeners in the process chain and the product

→ Less water and energy are used when manufacturing laminate than for design floors (LVT) and ceramic tiles

→ EGGER products have been awarded nu-merous environmental labels, including:

- PEFC (promotion of sustainable forestry)

- Environmental Performance Declarations from the Institut Bauen und Umwelt e. V. (EPDs)

- Der Blaue Engel (German seal of approval for low emissions)

- VOC (French emissions regulation)

- Physical construction properties (CE, AbZ)

- Climate protection and energy-saving support programme (KEF)

- Ecological life cycle: Laminate can be recycled, as it is uncontaminated waste

All EGGER products are tested according to current standards, building regulations, and data sheets. These regulations, standards and labels are the most important reference points.

Building authority approval

→ In addition to the CE marking, laminate

flooring also requires general building

authority approval for use in habitable

rooms in Germany. This is based on the DIBt

(Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik; Centre of

Competence for Construction) principles for

evaluating the health effects of construction

products.

D I B T / Z - 1 5 6 . 6 0 6 - 7 2 5 With this

label, EGGER's laminate floors received the

building authority approval from the DIBt in

Berlin.

CE Marking

→ EGGER laminate flooring has the CE marking.

The European standard EN 14041 defines the

form of the CE marking. It ensures that product

properties correspond to the requirements

regarding health, safety and energy saving.

External monitoring

→ External monitoring is provided by the

Fraunhofer-Institut WKI, Braunschweig (DE).

Standards

→ The requirements, specifications, and

tolerances for laminate flooring are defined

in the European standards. They are binding

for all European manufacturers of laminate

flooring.

E N 7 1 7 - 2 Regulates the procedure to

determine the formaldehyde release of wood-

based materials. Part 2 describes the uniform

formaldehyde determination by the gas

analysis method.

E N 1 8 1 5 Describes the procedure for

assessing and measuring the electrostatic

behaviour of laminate flooring as well as of

elastic and textile floor coverings.

E N 1 2 6 6 7 Defines the thermal

performance of building materials and building

products. It stipulates the determination of

thermal resistance for products with high

and average thermal resistance following the

procedure with plate and heat flow meter.

E N 1 3 3 2 9 Establishes the specifications,

requirements, and testing procedures for

laminate floors with cover layer based on

aminoplastic thermosetting resins (DPL/CML).

E N 1 3 8 9 3 Establishes the procedure for

measuring the sliding friction coefficient of dry

floor covering surfaces for elastic, laminated,

and textile floor coverings.

E N 1 3 5 0 1 - 1 Classifies building products

and building methods depending on their fire

performance. Part 1 is based on results from

the tests for the fire performance of building

products.

OVERVIEW OF STANDARDS

Page 89: Laminate Flooring Project Range 2015-2017

87EGGER LAMINATE FLOORING

E N 1 4 0 4 1 Establishes the key features of

elastic, textile, and laminate floor coverings.

E N 1 5 4 6 8 Establishes the specifications,

requirements, and testing procedures for

directly printed laminate floor elements (PDL

and EGGER DPR) with artificial resin cover

layer.

Technical specification

→ 90% of the standardisation work of the DIN

NGO in Berlin (DE) is internationally oriented.

In addition, it formulates technical

specifications.

C E N T S 1 6 3 5 4 It is a technical

specification without the status of a standard,

which establishes the testing procedure

for determining the technical properties of

underlay materials below laminate floors.

In addition to criteria such as compressive

strength, underlay movement and footfall

sound, the informative Annex B recommends

a classification and requirements for labels.

Compliance mark

→ Known in Germany as "Ü-mark" and in Austria

for Standardisation (CEN) in Brussels (BE)

and the European Producers of Laminate
