Greetings Sisters, On behalf of the 2008 - 2009 MDA1 Executive Board, I would like to say THANK YOU for a great year. Working with all of you has been fun and has been quite a learning experience. You ladies should be proud of all of your accomplishments and really be proud of how far you have come. With an area basically full of neos, you have showed that with heart and persistence, anything can be done. You have made MDA1 quite a spectacular area to be in, and are continuing to expand upon the dream your chapter founders and alumni envisioned and worked hard for. Congratulations to all of our chapters on your awards, recognition, and leadership roles! To all of our graduating seniors, you will be missed greatly!!! We are very proud of you ladies for surviving school, work, LTA and everything that has come your way. We are looking forward to the graduation celebrations and the future contributions you ladies will make as Alumna (maybe you will even consider holding an Area Board position in the future). As with any organization, you can't really begin to see the fruits of your labor until after you're done working. Each generation of leaders develops and cultivates the leaders behind them; it is part of our mission. Your sisters who work with you and follow in your footsteps will remember you for more than the programs and awards you win. They will remember you for the type of leader you were, the type of sister you were. Their successes in turn are a reflection of you, and the skills and characteristics you helped them bring out. Nobody really knows what they are fully capable of when they first become a sister, but it’s something you figure out along the way. You ladies have shown your chapters that they can do anything they set their heart to, and I want to thank you for being great role models. I really am proud of the leaders each and every one of you has become. To Lambda Delta and Alpha Delta, THANK YOU, for being just absolutely wonderful and willing to work with MDA1. You have shown so much support for our undergraduates, through Somos Hermanas, sponsorships, attending events, etc. I personally would like to thank Gloria Anglon and Liz Lizama, for all the hard work they put in to ensure the success of Somos Hermanas. You ladies went above and beyond in everything and showed me that it’s okay to dream big as long as you make a plan and follow it to make sure that dream comes true. We each envisioned a more unified area, and I love the progress we have made. Through Somos Hermanas, joint community services, potlucks, and finally an awards banquet, we really have made significant strides to bringing Unity to our area.

Finally, to my board; I love you! We've had some great times, and I really could not have asked for a better team. You have set a standard for all to follow, and have continued to show the sisterhood why MDA1 is such a great area to be a part of.
