Social committee– Mary Hanlon & Tim Acomb .June has finally arrived (we think). The sec-ond big event of the summer is the Opening Dinner and Annual Auction. We expect a full house at the Dinner (142 people we hope) and a fuller houseful of Silent Auction Items and ex-citing Live Auction bidding with Jeff Zimar work-ing as the Auctioneer. We will have to wait and see what items he adds to the event; Bob King has given up ever getting his parking space back. The second event in June is the “Tunes on the Tee”. Mark your calendars for the July 21 Clambake; more news later in June.
LCC House committee - Travis Worth New Beer Tower paid for and a big hit with
members! Steve Stork was the winner of the Titleist
bag. We are open for lunch daily from 11-3PM and Dinner
Specials are served on Friday with the best food in the area from Andy and Barry.
Dinner will not be served Friday, June 8 in order to prepare for the Opening Dinner on Saturday, June 9.
We had a Bridal Shower last Sunday. (Cara has Pics) Welcome to our new staff consisting of Bailey Colon-
na, Kimberly and Kristen Thayer! They are looking forward to all the great events and upcoming tourna-ments!!

President’s Message— Scott Hafleigh Summer-like weather is finally here. I hope you are enjoying your time on our beautiful golf course! Welcome to all of our new members. An update on the restroom: it is now open! A keypad will be installed soon. Please note that the water is not pota-ble. Soon we will have a wa-ter cooler there. The locked door on the right is storage for now, until the other stall is completed. August 3rd and 4th are the dates for the 90th Wine Tour-nament. We are looking for good participation this year…be thinking of who you will invite. Note that it is just 2 days this year. Watch for the pickle ball courts to begin soon…a con-tract has been signed! Thanks to all who have donated to and who are attending the Opening Dinner and Auc-tion.
Long-range planning committee— Bebette Yunis It's that time of year when we look for-ward with great anticipation to the Opening Dinner and Auction on June 9th! We are very excited to welcome new members and new donations to an al-ready impressive list of auction items. As you are aware, the money raised at the auc-tion is an integral part of our success at LCC. It is one of the main sources of funding for many projects. Specifi-cally, monies raised from the auction go towards the capital fund and a portion of the proceeds goes to the capital reserve fund. One of our newest investments is this new fairway mower! This $89,000 investment (amortized over 10 years) allows Joe and his crew to do their jobs with great speed and efficiency. See photo on page 5. All of the LCC Board of Directors are committed to growing our capital reserve fund and I will be monitoring the capital balance on a monthly ba-sis. We want to increase this account over time as ap-propriate to continuously improve our overall financial condition. Have a wonderful season at Lakeside.
Thank you!
The LCC Board and members wish to offer their condolences to the family of Stu Komer and his wife, Judy. Stu was a long-time LCC member and
supporter. He passed away May 24 in Florida. You can access his obituary in the Elmira Star Gazette.

FROM THE BUSINESS OFFICE - We have welcomed a large group of new members. Be sure to introduce yourself. The weather has become summer-like final-ly! After a very poor April, we are up and go-ing. Leagues are under way and we've had some successful “Nine and Dines” before the Friday dinners. The course is in great shape and the food is outstanding...that's a pretty good combination! If you haven't picked up your membership card and calendar, please stop by the of-
fice. We always welcome visitors! Judy and Mary,
Spring is finally here!!!
Membership Committee- Nick Olney
We continue to have a productive year with regards to new membership activity. Through the month of May, we have gained 27 new golfing memberships under the sponsorship pro-gram. We have also gained 2 new social memberships and 4 new stu-dent members. June is another great month for recruiting new members. If you know of any pro-spective members, please let them know all of the benefits to belonging to Lakeside Country Club. The Welcome Reception, on May 18th, was a nice event that was well attended by both new and returning members. Thank you to Dave and Amy Hoffman for donating the wines from
Testimonial to Cara: At left is the testimonial and collage
that was put on FB praising and thanking Cara for the
job she did for this bridal shower. Here is what they wrote: “My bridal shower was held at Lakeside Country Club and I can-not say enough about how wonderful it was. Cara was amazing to work with, she made herself available through emails, phone calls and in person visits. She was willing to work with us every step of the way -- offering extra decor that she had, helping with menu planning, and answering any and every question. On the day of, Cara came in early to let us set up and decorate offering help and suggestions along the way. The food was fantastic, all the guests could not stop telling us how pleased they were with the meal! Cara even boxed up the leftovers for us to take home at the end of the day. The staff was attentive and refilled things as needed, as well was picking up. At tear-down Cara was every-where you could possibly need her. The overall day was wonder-ful. My guests raved about the location and the food. I highly recommend having your event at the Lakeside Country Club with Cara!!!!” - Heather & Rita Creary
Thank you, Cara, for a great LCC promotion!!!

Buildings & Grounds - Mike Wolf We made a new walk bridge on 9 fairway. The people are Don Willmot, Jerry Turner,Travis Worth,Dennis Quenan, Chad, the repairman, and myself. It is in place now with the help from Joe, our superintendent. I hope I didn't miss anyone but thank you.
Greens Committee—Don Willmott & Jeff Morehouse A special thank you to the following mem-bers :Bob DeWitt, John Shultz, Dennis Queenan, Art Kirk, Jeff Morehouse, and Jerry Turner , who helped Joe Champion and I in attempting to dig the ditch for fairway hole #1 a few weeks ago, as we ran into enough rocky soil to prevent the mechanical ditch digger from doing its job. As a result we were forced to re-lay the sod we took up last February and replace it until this fall when we will more than likely use a back-
hoe to do the job for the next 200 yards or so. Only 100 feet of drain pipe was placed so far. On the bright side, our new Toro rough mower has gotten a good workout recently and keeping up with our spring grass growth has been better (no mechani-cal breakdowns). If you have any concerns about the condition of our course feel free to con-tact me.
Another Thank
You to Dennis
Quenan who, last
winter, made the
little “tee boxes”
now on the big
tees to hold our
broken tees!!!
