Facts about Valentine’s DayDid you know that nearly 150 million cards are exchanged
each Valentine’s Day? Or that more than 40,000 Americans are employed at chocolate companies? Discover some interesting facts about this holiday celebrated in the name of St. Valentine.• 141 million Valentine’s Day cards are exchanged
annually, making Valentine’s Day the second-most popular greeting-card-giving occasion behind Christmas.
• Over 50 percent of all Valentine’s Day cards are purchased in the six days prior to the observance, making Valentine’s Day a procrastinator’s delight.
• Research reveals that more than half of the U.S. population celebrates Valentine’s Day by purchasing a greeting card.
• There are 119 single men (i.e., never married, widowed or divorced) who are in their 20s for every 100 single women of the same ages.
• In addition to the U.S., Valentine’s Day is celebrated in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Denmark, Italy and Japan.
FrienDly reminDer! Please be sure you pick up after your pet. It’s our
responsibility as dog owners to be sure that our pooches don’t leave behind “little surprises” for other residents. There are pet stations located along our trails in the community that make it easy and more convenient to scoop the poop. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Q: Can I find a fine dining experience without driving into the city?A: Depending on your taste buds there are plenty of
options to have a nice dinner within Fort Bend County. If you’re looking for gourmet cooking in a casual setting try Ray’s Gourmet Country in Fulshear, TX owned by Executive Chef Soren Pedersen. For a traditional steakhouse with an appealing menu and romantic atmosphere try Perry’s Steakhouse in Sugar Land or Katy. Post Oak Grill, a galleria staple, is now open in Sugar Land and offers a vibrant atmosphere with an array of steaks, chops and fresh seafood dishes. Also new to Sugar Land is the well-known Churrascos restaurant for a Latin inspired dining experience. And last but not least is Karl’s at the Riverbend located on FM 723 just north of FM 359. This Swiss owned restaurant features American and Continental style cuisine in a quiet, intimate setting. Bon appetite!

lakemont Quilting bees
Come join the Quilting Bees of Lakemont who meet every second Tuesday and last Sunday of each month at the Lakehouse from 2pm – 6pm. If you are interested in quilting the group provides an opportunity for quilters, both beginners and experienced, to share their experience and knowledge with each other. We help new quilters get started
quilting either by machine or by hand. Below are the scheduled meeting dates. We will work on community service projects that provide quilted items to charitable organizations around Houston and its surrounding areas.
Residents who participate are responsible for providing their own tools, fabric, and sewing machine. Materials used for community projects will be donated by participants of the quilting bee on a voluntary basis. Children must be accompanied by an adult since there will be access to sharp objects and sewing machines. For more information, please contact Michelle Hudson ([email protected]).
All residents of Lakemont are invited to join the Bees. Please check the calendar of events for specific dates
