W E LC O M EThe Student Managed Farm at Lakeland College is proud and excited to bring to you our inaugural Beef Day. Our main focus for Beef Day is to feature our bulls and replacement females, as well as to showcase the beef research facility at the college. A brand new handling system has recently been put in that the students had a part in designing, focused on low-stress handling. Research with the Grow Safe bunks is a great way for students to expand their knowledge with different feeding trials that are always taking place at the research facility.
We as students are very fortunate to be able to be a part of the research that goes on here at Lakeland College and we would love to show you around the facility. We believe that it is important to bring an educational component to the day which is why we are going to bring in industry-leading speakers to discuss trends in the industry. We are very proud of our bulls as they represent the genetic quality of our purebred herd. These genetics are proven and will add more profit to your operation. We are offering bulls that are fit for your heifers and higher performing bulls that will add extra capacity and pounds to your calf crop. Please join us on Sunday, April 6th at the Red Barn to be a part of Beef Day and our first bull sale. We look forward to meeting each and every one of you at the sale. Please feel free to contact us prior if you have any questions.
Carley AvisonPUREBRED UNIT MANAGER
Welcome to our Inaugural Beef Day. The Lakeland College Student Managed Farm, powered by New Holland, has been work-ing toward hosting an event that would feature our bulls, replacement females, and the advancements in beef research that College is engaged in. We are proud to say it’s happening, April 6, right here on campus.
The Bulls are a representation of our breeding program, and we are proud of the offering in this catalogue. We have bulls that are suited to hit your heifer pen, and others that will help add pounds and value to your bottom line.
The beef industry has a lot to be positive about right now. We saw a strong fall market, and fat cattle are generating strong profits and wide margins. The open and bred female markets have shown strength as producers look to expand their herds and capitalize on profits.
We would not be able to host this event without the incredible work of our students, the dedication of our farm staff, and the support of staff, faculty and the community. Thank You!
We invite you out April 6 to view our program. The bulls and females will be on display, as well as our updated research facility that has the latest in cattle handling equipment and RFI testing. Please feel free to call anyone on our team that can be of assistance in your purchasing decisions.
See you on the 6th,Robert Dixon and Geoff Brown

The lead off bull in our inaugural Beef Day. Samurai was selected to represent the college at Agribition and was the lead off bull in our Camrose pen of three. He has the greatest birth to weaning spread in the group and as we catalogue he pushes the scale down as the heaviest bull in the pen. Ranking in the top 1% of the breed for Birth Weight and Calving Ease adds in more value to our lead off bull.

We are extremely happy with our Tiger sons and 18A is another example of why. His 79 lb. birth weight makes him an ideal heifer bull candidate. His dam raised a previous high seller for us and has become one of the strongest producing females in our herd.
L O T 2
The first of our Real Worth sons is one of the biggest performance oriented bulls. While younger in age than some of his pen mates he hit the scale with highest
adjusted 205-day weight.
