Additional Qualifications The Ontario College of Teachers publishes all additional
qualification course guidelines, and organizes most courses into “Schedules.” Course prerequisites vary depending on the Schedule.
All guidelines, which specify learning expectations for each course, are publically available for review at: http://www.oct.cain the Additional Qualifications area.
All course providers must meet strict accreditation criteria, and must comply with government regulations in conjunction with p y g g jthe Ontario College of Teachers Act (i.e., courses are 125 hrs)

Earn qualifications to teach grade level divisions: Additional Basic Qualification (ABQ) Courses
Primary Division (Grades K-3)

5 years successful teaching experience Qualifications in 3 divisions, one of which must be the Intermediate Division One of a Master’s of Education degree, 2 Specialist qualifications, or one Specialist
qualification and half the coursework toward a Master’s degreequalification and half the coursework toward a Master s degree
Format:
Part I - an introductory course presenting the fundamental operational aspects of leading and managing a school
Part II - a more in-depth course exploring theoretical and operational aspects of the principalship
- Leadership Practicum – work on your own with support from a Mentor on a school improvement project

Qualification, you must be registered with the OCT before the recommendation is submitted to the College. The College of
