BENEFITS OF INSTALLING NATIVEPLANTS IN A RAIN GARDEN• Most native plants produce longroot systems which loosen the soilcreating a sponge zone wherepollutants and contaminants aresafely captured, filtered andprevented from entering waterways.

Lake Mohawk Preservation Foundation opportunities...• Their deep root systems lessenimpacts of floods and droughts.

• Native trees, shrubs, flowers andgrasses provide biodiversity andpreserve species in our developedcommunities.

• They are of high habitat valueproviding food, shelter and nesting

areas for wildlife, especially birds, butterflies and beneficial insects.

• These plants are naturally resilientto harmful insects and diseasethus eliminating the need forpesticide application.

• Since they are best adapted to localconditions, chemical fertilizers arenot needed.

• Water conservation is anotherbenefit since once they areestablished in the right place, there is no need for supplementalwatering.

• Indigenous plants absorb watermore efficiently than turf grasses, survive in both dry and wetconditions and thrive without a lotof care.

Lake Mohawk

(For those who did not have an opportuity to read it the other month)We believe life is more interesting when you have all the facts, so we thought we would share

some facts about the BWC hoping it might resolve some questions we are confronted with on aregular basis by our most valued members.

1. Did you know our BWC kitchen is only 17’x17’ which includes all the equipment. The benchmarkfor an average household kitchen is 12’x14’.

2. Because of this, we can only accommodate reservations for 25-30 people every half hour. Weuphold this to ensure quality service and food for all our members.

3. This is also the reason we can not serve items from the lunch menu during the dinner hour. Thechefs change over their entire inventory for the dinner shift in order to accommodate theirspace/prep needs.

4. Although we may have “empty” tables on the Grotto or West Deck, please understand that they aremost likely for a member who has made reservations. We would like to provide reserve signs butthe lake winds often times do not allow this.

5. We would love to accommodate any and all dietary/allergy needs, so we recommend calling aheadto allow ample time for the kitchen to prepare something special for you.

6. We now offer a wide selection of Gluten Free menu items and a few GF beers.

7. Did you know our draft beer pour is 18oz’s? 2 more than most. We change our Craft (Draft) BeerSelection each time a keg gets “kicked”. Feel free to suggest a new beer to Greg or Blake at any time.

8. The East Deck and the Beach Bar (open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, unless there is a wedding) willbe available for beverage service if you don’t have a reservation and are willing to wait until a tablebecomes available. Or maybe you would like to just enjoy a cocktail. Of course if there is a weddingin progress, we may not be able to offer this option until the ceremony is complete and cleared.

9. Who is who on the staff? Navy Blue shirt is a Manager/Assistant Manager, Teal with a black apronis a server, Teal and black shoes is a busser. Keep this in mind when looking for answers.

10. Leaving a message on our voice mail or email is not confirmation of your reservation. We will callto confirm and discuss any special needs you may have.

11. Remember to have your club card with you so we can give you reward points throughout the season.

12. We have a great Reward Point Program: 500points =$25 gift card, 1000 points = $50 gift card andan invitation to our end of season cocktail party. If you would like to learn more, please ask oneof the Managers.

13. We would love to honor everyones requests for seating on the “Grotto” “West Deck” or the “point”but we only have so many tables available. We will try our best to accommodate requests but wecan not guarantee them at any time during the season. Please understand.

14. We are so looking forward to seeing everyone. We have a made a few changes to our menus andcan’t wait to share them with you.
