Summer of Fun

Day CampInformationLake Mary Preparatory School is proud to offer a fun-filled summer day camp designed for children that are in grades Pre-K3 – 5th. Our day camp has nine weeks of engaging activities, games, guest speakers, and field trips that will captivate your child and all of their interests. Each week will have a different theme that will challenge your child to transform their summer into an awesome experience. In addition, the “week–to–week” camp plan allows you to select which weeks your child will attend camp; or for the ultimate camp experience, they can join us every week!Each group will have a team of qualified staff members that will create a fun and positive learning environment. We maintain a low counselor-to-child ratio to ensure the safety of our children. Our groups will focus on different aspects of sports, art, music and literature through professional educational techniques. Weekly fees include all activities, field trips, a snack, and lunch. Camp shirts are required to be worn on all field trips. Each child will receive one summer camp shirt at registration; additional shirts can be purchase as needed. We look forward to having an awesome summer and invite you to sign up for our camp and discover what Lake Mary Preparatory School has to offer your child.

Registration Fees for Day CampComplimentary registration fee is given to current and new 2018-2019 LMP students based on your admissions status.There is a $30 non-refundable registration fee per child for non-LMP students.

AcademicsOnce Upon A Time Creative Writing CampGrade Level: entering grades 1st - 3rd Instructor: Mrs. Cynthia SivaDates: June 11 - 15 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195 Overview: Once Upon a Time…..there was a brilliant writer! Join us for a creative way to get your writing juices flowing. This camp will use the 6+1 Traits of Writing to help young writers develop ideas, sentence fluency, organization, word choice, and voice. By the end of the week of writing camp, young writers will have used the writing process to publish a piece of their own writing!

Experimental CuisineGrade Level: entering grades 6th - 10th Instructor: Mr. Bryan MoretzDates: June 11 - 15 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: Do you wonder how your food is made, or the science behind your favorite meal? If so, then this camp is for you! We will create, dissect, and explore how different foods are made and learn recipes that take common ingredients and change their chemistry. STEM and MakerSpace Creation camp explores aspects of designing, creating, and improving your ideas. Learn how to use a Laser Engraver/Cutter, 3D Printer, and other new technology. Brain Pop! Brain Pop is an energetic camp in which kids are having fun thinking, moving, and gaining new knowledge and skills. Do you love the arts and being creative? This camp combines both! Each day students will listen and read popular books by famous authors. After the story is read, they will create beautiful masterpieces that tie into each story. Combining literacy with the arts is a great way to engage young brains and promote skills such as: cognitive development, reading readiness, and social development.

Young Journalize Creative Writing CampGrade Level: entering grades 3rd - 5th Instructor: Mrs. Cynthia SivaDates: July 23 - 27 Time: 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: This camp is perfect for readers and writers of all abilities – from the budding young wordsmiths who love the process, to the reluctant writer who hasn’t yet found the know-how or interest in writing. Lead by the Co-Director of the National Writing Project in Daytona, FL, Mrs. Siva will get your primary writers who are hungry to write in gear for worthy writing skills! Does he/she need to brush up on some skills before school starts back? Or, will this school year be their first time in an academic setting? This camp is design to help your early learner enter into the classroom with the fundamentals and confidence that he or she will need. Through fun activities and games we will help them develop basic math, pre-writing, and pre-reading skills.

Elementary Camp ReadinessGrade Level: entering grades Kindergarten - 1st Instructor: Ms. Stephanie PeterkinDates & Time: July 23 - 27 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: Is your child ready to shift away from a play setting to a more structured learningenvironment? This camp is designed to give a jumpstart to students who may need a little extrapreparation for kindergarten and 1 st grade and/or have not attended school prior to this.Through creative “camping” theme activities, this camp will focus on developing the skills thathelp students improve their transitions into school. Recharging their minds, students’ will feelconfident starting the first day of school with the basic tools for success.

Middle School Boot Camp (Offered to current and new 2018-2019 LMP Students)Grade Level: entering grades 6th - 8th Instructor: Mrs. Kathy BenefielDates: July 23 - 27 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: This class will present middle school students with a compilation of meaningful advice, methods, and activities that will help middle school students reach their academic goals. The class is designed to lead middle school students to understand their learning styles and offers recommendations towards utilizing personal strengths towards academic success. This camp is perfect to help your child adjust to the transition from 5th to 6th grade. In addition, this camp will help 7th and 8th graders keep on track academically and socially. Topics include: learning styles, goal setting and organization, cognitive skills, time and stress management, and test preparation.

Archery Grade level: entering grades 4th - 8th (co-ed) Instructor: Mrs. Ann Skippers & Mr. Scott LaksoDates: June 4 - 8 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: Campers will be divided into groups based on their skill level, which will provide a great atmosphere for beginners as well as for more experienced archers. In this fun-filled camp, Coach Skippers will focus on several fundamentals including: stance, setup, anchor points, and release. Awards will be handed out at the completion of camp for most accurate and improved shooters.

SoccerGrade level: entering grades 1-8 (co-ed) Instructor: Mr. Frankie DelgadoDates: June 4 - 8 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195 Overview: The Lake Mary Prep Soccer Camp will be broken into sections based on age and skill level; therefore, it will provide a great atmosphere for beginners as well as more experienced players. In this fun-filled camp, Coach Delgado will focus on several fundamentals including: passing, dribbling, striking, goalkeeping, and shooting. Awards will be handed out at the completion of camp.

Jr. All-StarsGrade level: entering grades PreK - 1st (co-ed) Instructor: Mrs. Kelly Dennis Cost: $195Dates: June 4 - 8 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Overview: Ready, set, GO!!!! This camp is for the active student that loves sports and the outdoors! Students will be involved in mini sport clinics such as: soccer, basketball, T-ball, field hockey, flag football, and more!! This camp promotes gross motor development, social skills, team building, and cooperative play.

Girls VolleyballGrade level: entering grades 3rd - 8th Instructors: Mr. Carlos Pizarro & Mr. Mario RodriguezDates: June 11 - 15 & July 30 - Aug 3 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: Whether you are just a beginner or have been playing the game for years, this camp will help improve your performance. The camp will concentrate on communication, passing, blocking, serving, positioning, setting, and digging. Contests and team games will also be a part of camp with awards and prizes given at the completion of camp.

BaseballGrade level: entering grades 1st - 8th (co-ed) Instructor: Mr. Justin VaritekDates: June 11 - 14 (Mon - Thurs) Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195 & July 30 - Aug 3 (Mon - Fri)Overview: The Lake Mary Prep Baseball Camps are designed to ensure every camper willhave a positive and fun experience while learning essential skills, drills, and techniques thatare involved with baseball. We will work on hitting, pitching, catching, throwing, running,fielding, and bunting throughout the week. Games will be played each day and prizes will be awarded at the completion of camp. This camp is perfect for boys and girls who lovebaseball.

BasketballGrade level: entering grades 1st - 8th (Co-ed) Instructor: Ms. Brittainy DaigerDates: June 18 – 22 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195 Overview: The Griffin Basketball Camp will focus on player development in both skill and self-confidence. Students will work on the fundamentals of shooting, passing, ball-handling, and defense. Competitions and games will also take place in the week long instructional camp with awards and prizes given at the completion of camp.

Cheer & Hip-HopGrade Level: entering grades K - 5th Instructor: Ms. Jacqui ShaddowDates: June 18 - 22 Times: 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview:  This high-energy class includes cheer and dance techniques. In this program, students will learn basic pom technique, sideline and floor cheers, basic cheer stunting, hip-hop, and jazz techniques. Students will enjoy playing dance related games, making crafts, and will learn positive sportsmanship through team building activities. Participants will present their dance and cheer routines in a performance at the end of the week. No experience necessary and all skill levels are welcome.

Track & Field/Speed & AgilityGrade Level: entering grades 2nd - 8th (co-ed) Instructor: Ms. Crystal HaynesDates: June 25 - 29 Times: 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview:  Lake Mary Prep track & field/speed camp is designed to help athletes improve their body awareness, body control, running form, and will include instruction for a variety of track and field events. The camp will focus on strengthening the key muscles needed for proper running mechanics and speed through a series of drills, exercises, and dynamic and functional movements. This is the perfect camp to prepare all athletes for their upcoming season.

Flag FootballGrade Level: entering grades 3rd - 8th Instructor: Mr. Zac CarterDates: July 23 - 27 Times: 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview:  Lake Mary Prep football camp is designed to help players improve their football skills whether you are a beginner or have been playing for years. The camp will focus on developing fundamentals at each of the primary positions. This will be the perfect camp to get you ready for your upcoming season.

Lego RoboticsGrade level: ages 7 - 14 Dates: June 4 - 8 Time: 9:00am – 3:00pmCost: $219 (drop-off as early as 8:30 a.m.)Overview: Our “Robocamps”; teach programming, building, troubleshooting and the art and science behind being a true robotics engineer. The camps feature LEGO© Mindstorm EV3 set. We are now only using the new EV3 Robot which will allow campers to get deeper into the builds and skill building activities. The curriculum used for all of our camps comes from LEGO © Education and is carefully planned by our founder drawing from 20+ years of robotics teaching, training and curriculum development for schools and various departments of education across the US. This is a camp designed by you—the Inventor! Each day you’ll be given a series of challenges which must be overcome using basic materials, simple machines, tips from world famous inventors and the most important thing of all – your mind. With a little bit of ingenuity you’ll construct catapults and forts and then lay siege, fabricate a winning Egg Drop design, construct a dancing robot, and assemble a working light saber to take home. While Thomas Edison said invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration, this camp is 100% fun!

Crazy Chemistry LabAge Group: entering grades 1st - 6th Dates: July 23-27 Time: 9:00am - 3:00 pm Cost: $259 (Early Bird $209 through May 1st)Overview: Shake up a flask of fun in the lab and become a junior chemist! Learn to recognize chemical reactions and mix up a few reactive ingredients for some sensational results. Check out the colors of chemistry with the power of pH paper and create a stopper-popping reaction. Probe the properties of light and discover some unusual applications of glow-in-the-dark technology. Campers have a blast as they make some crazy concoctions. We’ll even explore the Science of SLIME and make all sorts of slimey goop to take home!

Robotics & CodingAge Group: entering grades 2nd - 7th Dates: July 30-Aug 3 Time: 9:00am - 3:00 pm Cost: $299 (Early Bird $249 through May 1st)Overview:  Use your robotics knowledge to become a master programmer! We’ll be using Dot and Dash,Ozobot, and Meccanoid Robots to learn about robotics and coding. We’ll put our robots to the test byprogramming them to perform all sorts of tasks! This camp is adaptable to all levels, so beginners andexperts can all have a blast! Students will make their own robot to keep and take home at the end of theweek.

There is a $45 fee for all return personal checks.
