Job Description

POSITION: General Manager DIRECT REPORTING TO: TCPC Management CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Full Time, Exempt SALARY: D.O.E. QUALIFICATIONS:

o Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, some college and/or continuing education. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

o Experience: Two years previous full management experience that includes direction of personnel, accounting and related budgeting activities, inventory control, advertising, and customer relations. Prefer recreation related experience but will consider other property management experience.

o Skills/Knowledge: General maintenance including piping, pumps, landscaping, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc. General accounting and understanding of financial statements. Ability to assess the area and determine what needs to be done, with minimum supervision. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with emphasis on Word and Excel. Proficient in internet use.

o General Abilities: Math computation skills. English language skills, written and oral. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively. Ability to make independent decisions and determine appropriate course of action. Work efficiently as an individual and be self-motivated.

o Other: At times you may be required to assist other co-workers to complete tasks that may not be included within this document. Additional training may be involved that may or may not require travel. Assist in all aspects of marina operation/function at this location, and/or at our other locations within our organization.

o Possess valid Drivers License with clean 3 year history

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Management of all aspects of operations within budgetary guidelines in an efficient, cost effective and creative manner. Oversees all operations including (if applicable): dry storage, slips, boat yard, launching and towing, fuel inventory/sales, boat rentals, retail store, facility maintenance, and service/repair department. Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversees the recruiting, training, scheduling, and supervision of all personnel including disciplinary actions and terminations when appropriate and per policy. Maintains the highest level of safety training and awareness for all personnel. Responsible for monthly meetings and annual reviews. Responsible for pay rate recommendations.

• Prepares annual operating budget and monitors progress of actual versus projected figures on a monthly basis. Investigates negative deviations and sets and monitors objectives to correct.

• Maintains proper controls for safeguarding assets, including but not limited to rental fleet,

inventory and equipment.

• Routinely inspects and ensures an above average appearance for all property areas.

• Purchases gasoline, diesel fuel and oil in a manner that ensures adequate and efficient inventory levels, adjusting for seasonal fluctuation in accordance with company policy.

• Understands and complies with government regulations pertaining to park or marina

functions. This includes but is not limited to weights and measures, County Sheriff, OSHA, EPA, Army Corp of Engineers, Reclamation District and Labor Departments. Maintains a professional relationship with all agencies, contractors, vendors, and customers.

• Maintains water wells and sewage systems. Complies with and makes records of all

regulatory requirements.

• Ensures and takes appropriate action for the proper maintenance of all resort equipment. Follows or develops a routine preventative maintenance program.

• Ensures the safety of guests and employees. Trains employees in the safe use of

equipment including fire equipment and extinguishers. Understands and complies with Fire Prevention Program. Monitors physical facility on a daily basis to ensure proper safety environment. Maintains accurate and current OSHA records.

• Follows and ensures accurate accounting procedures including but not limited to

controlling cash, closing and balancing cash registers, and processing credit card transactions, and overseeing payables and receivables.

• Communicates efficiently and timely with management through email and/or voice mail.

• Ensures prompt, safe and courteous service to all guests. Resolves guest disputes in a

diplomatic consistent manner as developed by management.

• Maintain and protect the confidentiality of all data/information related to specific job assignments and The California Parks Company in general.

• Be a willing member of The California Parks Company, performing all duties and

functions as assigned to the best of his/her ability.

Supervision Responsible for the direct supervision of the following positions:

• Assistant General Manager • Maintenance Supervisor • Marina Supervisor • Kiosk – Gate Attendant Supervisor • Cabin – Camp Host • Accounting Manager

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

:

The General Manager will use various tools and equipment on a daily basis. Footwear required shall be a work boot or a high quality leather shoe providing ankle support. No open toe sandals or flip flops will be allowed on the job. The General Manager will be knowledgeable in the safety practices and standards set by the company, relative to the work environment he/she operates in. He/she will also make it a duty to assure that all co-workers are working with those same safety practices and standards.

Physical Standards: Job demands a flexible and varying work routine. Requires the ability to lift and/or carry 50+ lbs., grasp, hold, bend, kneel, sit, stoop, twist, push, pull, walk, and stand on a regular basis. Ability to use step stool, and/or climb ladder. Must be able to swim. Must be able to work outside, daily, in all weather conditions-including 100+ degree temperatures. Eye-Hand coordination.
