Perhaps the best thing about the month of March is that it is the month when spring begins. Every year the Spring Equi- nox occurs sometime during the month. This year, it happens on Wednesday, March 20th at 5:58 p.m. While the calen- dar may state that winter is over, we know better. Like last year winter sometimes has a hard time of letting go. We can only hope that our in-state expert weather forecaster, Punxsutawney Phil, was right when he saw his shadow and predicted that it will be an early spring and warmer weather will soon be here. On January 13th we had a huge turnout for the Winter Reunion. It was great seeing so many campers and parents. Reminiscing about the past summer was fun, but talking about the upcoming summer was really exciting. Thanks to everyone who got up early and made the reunion incredible. With the official start to spring nearly here, it is also time to begin counting down the days until the start of camp. If you were wondering, there’s only 117 days left. See you soon! Mandatory FormsWith Summer just a few months away, it’s time to find your camp to do list and begin preparing your child for summer camp. Knowing the camp’s policies and procedures is an important first step. When you know what you need to do and when you need to do it, getting ready for camp becomes more organized and less stressful. As you begin checking items off of your camp to do list, there are three mandatory forms that we would like to bring to your attention. They are the Camper Health History Form, the Camper Health Care Recommendations Form, and the Camper Profile Form. These forms must be on file with the camp prior to a camper’s arrival at camp. The dead-line for their submission is June 18th.Pages 1-3 of the Camper Health History Form are to be completed by a parent. We recommend that you provide a copy of this form to your health care provider for their review. The Camper Health Care Recommendations Form is to be completed by your child’s physician. These forms are es-sential to providing proper medical care, therefore, no camper will be permitted in camp without them. Please take notice that each camper is required to be examined by a physician prior to attending camp. This examination must take place within twelve months of your child’s arrival at camp.Parents are also required to complete a Camper Profile Form for each child. The purpose of this form is to highlight your child’s interests and talents. It also allows you to ex-press any goals or concerns that you have. These forms are reviewed by members of our senior staff and by the camp-er’s cabin counselors prior to his/her arrival. The Profile Form is a helpful tool as it allows the camp staff to become familiar with your child and your expectations. These mandatory forms may be completed online through your Lake Greeley Camp CampInTouch account or may be downloaded from the Forms page on Lake Greeley Camp’s website. As always members of our full-time staff are avail-able to answer any questions.

Winter Reunion Recap continued from page 1No reunion would be complete without a wild lucky lotto raffle and a slide show of pictures taken from last summer. For those campers who had brought an appetite, there was donuts and bagels, and plenty of coffee. Thanks to everyone who attended the Winter Reunion. It was fantastic to see so many campers and parents. Wak-ing up early on a Sunday morning is never an easy task. In addition, many of our camp families had driven in excess of an hour. There were, however, three campers who traveled a significant distance. Susan Mont-gomery, Lila Goles, and Penny Celtnieks came all the way from Mary-land, more than a four hour trip, to attend the reunion. Now that’s what we call camp spirit!Members of our camp staff also showed their camp spirit as Erica Bent, Molly Matzkin, Maggie Buynak, Alex Gmoser, An-gela Bradley, and Patrick Barbieri were in attendance. If there was any doubt about the strength of a friendship that is made at camp, all you have to do is watch the exhilara-tion campers express when they see their friends after being months apart as well as their disappointment as the reunion was coming to an end.Thank you for making it such a great day!

Spring Open HouseTour DatesThere is no better way to learn about a summer camp than by seeing it first-hand. That is why we offer tours of Lake Greeley Camp’s campgrounds throughout the year. Our Open House events provide a fantastic opportunity to see the camp’s facilities, walk inside camper cabins, ask questions, and meet members of the staff.Tours are scheduled this spring on the following dates:

• Sunday, March 31st• Saturday, April 13th• Saturday, April 27th• Saturday, May 11th

Tours of the camp are scheduled at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. If you plan on attending one of our Open Houses, please let us know by emailing us at [email protected] or by calling the Moscow office. We look forward to meeting you and showing you the many features of Lake Greeley Camp that make it one-of-a-kind.

Camp ImprovementsDespite the cold and snowy weather we have been experi-encing lately at camp, progress is being made on the various improvement projects. Here’s an update.

Staff QuartersInterior renovations to the staff quarters that were mentioned in December’s newsletter is moving along at a brisk pace. The four newly refurbished rooms are finally taking shape. Once warmer weather returns work on the exterior of the building will begin.

Lake DocksAn unexpected last minute change to our dock order with American Muscle Docks & Fabrication has resulted in the docks being shipped unassembled. Contractors have been scheduled to begin assembling the docks in mid-March.

ArboristLast year Winter Storm Toby dropped 30 inches of heavy wet snow that had a devastating effect on the forested areas around the camp. Trees bent over from the weight of the snow made accessing the camp impossible. Clean up that began in the spring continued into the summer and is still not yet finished. In order to sustain the forest surrounding the camp, an arborist has been contracted to assess the health of individual trees, prune them, and determine those that need to be removed.

PoolA relatively unknown fact was that Lake Greeley Camp’s swim team was undefeated in the four swim meets in which they competed. In recognition of the team’s efforts, new rac-ing lanes for the pool have been purchased.

Even though contractors now have a busy schedule, there always seems to be another project waiting to get started. When we do, we will let you know.

has done it all, a camper, completed the Leaders in Training program and a counselor. This summer she will be spend-ing her days working in the camp office and managing the Canteen.

Thom Jeffrey - Arguably the best Tennis Director we have had in recent memory, we are excited that Thom is returning for his second summer at Lake Greeley Camp. As good as he was as the tennis director, we felt Thom’s many talents were being underutilized. As a result, his new role this sum-mer he will be as the Intermediate Boy’s Division Director.
