We’ve made it to the home stretch of this 2017/2018 school year, congratulations everyone! Now let's stay focused, we’ve still got a very busy month to go.Students have begun their annual testing, which will continue on into the first couple weeks of May. One more reminder - it is so important that your child gets a good night's rest, eats a healthy breakfast and tries their very best on these assessments. We use this information, along with other information, to help determine each student’s needs and to help place them in the appropriate enrichment and supports at school. Third Quarter Report Cards were mailed home shortly after Spring Break, please call the school if you did not receive one for your child. Already we are almost to the middle of the 4th and last quarter of the school year, so keep an eye out for progress reports coming soon. Great job to our 3rd quarter Renaissance qualifiers! They were rewarded with a trip to Wailuku to watch Rampage, and then to I’ao Valley State Park for a picnic lunch. These students have worked hard to get and keep their grades up, maintain positive and respectful behavior, and put in at least four hours of community service for the third quarter. Mahalo to the Renaissance Program for celebrating our student success! Our annual Keali’i Night was another success! Thank you to all of our teachers and students who put together some wonderfully creative and interesting tables for show. A special thank you to Lori Koyama, our Student Activities Coordinator, for orchestrating this awesome night for our parents & students, and to Beth Fobbe-Wills, our Chorus Teacher, for putting on such a captivating performance with our Choir students. I was so impressed with both the group & solo performances by these brave and talented students! Mark your calendars, Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week is almost here. From May 7 th through May 11 th we’ll be celebrating our wonderful faculty here at Lahaina Intermediate School. Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week is an opportunity for students and parents to do something thoughtful and recognize the outstanding individuals who are dedicated to helping our sons and daughters strive for excellence, and work hard every day of the week for our children. Save the date for our annual Spring Choir and Band Concert coming up on May 20th. Look for more information coming through our weekly E-news, Facebook page, and our website (lis.schoolwires.net).
