Could be toxic if inhaled. May cause toxic effects if absorbed through the skin. Symptoms may be delayed. Inhalation or contact with material may irritate or burn skin, throat and eyes. Fire will produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Symptoms: Vapors may cause irritation of the mouth, nose and throat, coughing, leading to sleep and stupor, dizziness or suffocation. Skin contact : Absorbed through skin. Symptoms may be delayed. Symptoms include redness, itching, drying and pain. Eye contact : Symptoms: Severe irritation, even corneal burns. Ingestion : Toxic. Could be fatal if inhaled. Symptoms are similar to those for inhalation and may be delayed. Vapors may form explosive mixtures with air. Can react violently with oxidizers. Vapours are heavier than air and could travel to a source of ignition and flash back. They will spread along ground and collect in low confined areas (sewers, basements, tanks). Vapor explosion hazard indoors, outdoors or in sewers. Runoff to sewer may create fire or explosion hazard. Containers may explode when heated. Gel is lighter than water. Fire could produce irritating or poisonous gases. Runoff from fire control or dilution water could cause pollution.

Inhalation: Toxic. Could be toxic if inhaled. May cause toxic effects if absorbed

through the skin.

Skin contact: Absorbed through skin. Symptoms may be delayed. Symptoms include

redness, itching, drying and pain. Eye contact: Symptoms: Severe irritation, even corneal burns. Ingestion: Toxic. Could be fatal if inhaled. Symptoms are similar to those for

inhalation and may be delayed. Symptoms: From redness of face and neck, exaggerated feeling of well-being, stomach pain, depression, dizziness, headache, vomiting, and unconsciousness TO loss of co-ordination, slurred speech, drowsiness, stupor, coma and possibly death.

Chronic Exposure: Prolonged or repeated skin exposure may cause severe irritation or

dermatitis. Aggravation of Persons with pre-existing skin disorders or eye problems, or Pre-existing impaired liver, kidney or respiratory function may be more Conditions: susceptible to the effects of the substance.

4. First Aid Measures Skin Promptly remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected area with plenty

of water and soap for at least 15 minutes. Wash clothing before reuse. Eyes Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Irrigate eyes

thoroughly whilst lifting eyelids and rolling eyeballs. SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION.

Ingestion Do not induce vomiting. Observe for symptoms of centrl nervous system

depression or drowsiness. Lie person down, and keep calm, prevent person from self-inflicted harm. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Seek immediate medical attention.

Inhalation Remove from contaminated area. Loosen all tight clothing. Sit patient up

if conscious. If breathing is difficult, oxygen should be given by a trained person. Begin rescue breathing if breathing has stopped. Begin CPR if heart action has stopped. Seek immediate medical attention

5. Fire Fighting Measures Small fires: Dry chemical, CO2 or alcohol resistant foam. Large fires: Extinguish with water spray, fog or alcohol resistant foam. Move

container from fire area if it can be done without risk. Cool down containers with water spray. For massive fire in cargo area, use unmanned hose holder or monitor nozzles. Withdraw immediately when containers start bulging or in case of rising sound from venting safety device or any discolouration of container due to fire. Keep unnecessary people away. Isolate hazard area and deny entry. Stay upwind. Keep out of low areas. Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and full firefighters' protective clothing will provide limited protection. Protect personnel and public from exposure to toxic smoke from burning product.

6. Accidental Release Measures

Shut off ignition sources. No smoking, flames or flares in hazard area. Always wear suitable protective clothing. Demarcate danger area (block roads if necessary) and put out warning signs. Keep public and non-emergency people away from danger area. Keep upwind. Stay away from low areas (also ensure that other people are staying upwind). If water pollution occurs, notify the appropriate authorities. Avoid spillage from entering drains or water courses. Provide adequate protective equipment and ventilation. Notify Fire Brigade, Occupational Health and Environmental authorities.

Spill or leak: Shut off ignition sources; no flares, smoking or flames in hazard area. Stop leak if you can without risk. Water spray may reduce vapour, but it may not prevent ignition in closed spaces. Ventilate area well. Restrict persons not wearing PPE from entering area. Contain product and reclaim if possible. Keep out of confined spaces. Absorb residues with vermiculite, dry sand, earth or other similar product. Collect and deposit

in sealed containers for disposal. Contaminated soil to be excavated and transported to a hazardous materials waste disposal site. Dispose by incineration.

Small spills: Take up with sand or other noncombustible absorbent material and place

into containers for later disposal.

Large spills: Dike far ahead of liquid spill for later disposal.

7. Handling And Storage Separation of at least 3 metres from corrosives is recommended. Storage in the same storage space is prohibited with the following classes: These storage spaces should be at least 10 metres apart: Explosives Poisonous Gases Oxidizing Agents Organic Peroxides Radioactive materials Corrosives Avoid contact with strong oxidizers. Store in tightly closed containers in a cool, well-ventilated area. Smoking and open flames are prohibited in storage area. Metal containers should be bonded before decanting/transferring the product. Use only non-sparking tools and equipment.

8. Exposure Controls/Personal Protection Occupational Exposure Individual substances: See page 1 Limits Controls The control measures appropriate for a particular work site depend on

how this material is used and on the extent of exposure. The best protection is to have enclosed operations or provide local exhaust ventilation at the site of chemical release. Use a non-sparking, grounded ventilation system separate from other exhaust ventilation systems. Exhaust directly to the outside. Supply sufficient replacement air to make up for air removed. Have a safety shower/eye wash fountain readily available in the immediate work area.

Personal Protection If engineering controls and work practices are not effective in controlling

this material then wear suitable personal protection equipment, including chemical safety goggles, face shield, boots, impervious gloves, overalls, & respiratory protection. Always have appropriate equipment available for use in emergencies.

Fire: Use full personal protective clothing, including a self-contained

breathing apparatus. Inhalation: Handle only in well-ventilated open area. In emergency or

non-routine tasks, use self-contained breathing apparatus. Skin: Wear appropriate clothing to prevent repeated or prolonged skin

contact. Butyl rubber or PVC gloves may also be used. Provide safety showers.

Eye: Wear safety chemical goggles or face shields where splashing may

occur. Provide eyewash stations. Ingestion: Do not drink. Do not eat or drink in the area where product is

being handled or stored.
