    This course is about the fundamental principles of labor law, and the law onrecruitment and placement, labor standards, termination of employment, and sociallegislation.

    On completion of the course, the student is expected to be able to do thefollowing:

    1. State the legal bases of labor law and tell where it may be found; recognie the

    basic rights of wor!ers and employers;

    2. Tell when an employer"employee relationship exists; differentiate #ob contracting

    from labor"only contracting;

    3. Tell when there is illegal recruitment; discuss the rights of apprentices, learnersand the disabled;

    4. $estate and apply the minimum standards on hours of wor!, rest days, holidays,

    various leaves, minimum wages, payment and protection of wages, %&th monthpay, and the wor!ing conditions for women, minors, house helps and otherspecial groups of wor!ers;

    5. 'iscuss the right to security of tenure; explain when an employee may (uit

    his)her employment; identify the #ust and business"related causes for terminationof employment; describe the procedural re(uirements of termination of

    employment; and identify the relief*s and remedies in cases of illegal dismissals;

    6. 'iscuss the coverage of and the benefits under the various social legislations.
