Equipment List• Below is a list of the equipment we will

use in our classroom. • Microscopes, bunsen burner, test tubes,

stirring rods, china markers, erlenmeyer flasks, graduated cylinders, beakers, watch glass, test tube racks, Pipet, Triple beam balances, hot plates, crucible and test tube tongs, funnel, forceps, ring clamp and stand, thermometer, spot plate, mortar and pestle, flint lighter

Some Equipment Photos• The common equipment that you should

Microscope, beaker, test tube, test tube rack, goggles

Mortar and Pestle• Tool is used to

grind materials into a soft powder.

• The morter is the bowl portion.

• The pestle is the grinder, looks like a stick.

Triple Beam Balance• Used to measure the mass of samples

and other objects• Rules for use: Always zero it out, carry

with two hands, do not stack.

Transferring Liquids• Can be done using pipets, funnels, or a

graduated cylinder (<-- also measures).

Spot Plate

• Valuable for analyzing small samples for color change or presence of a precipitate.

Ring Clamp & Stand

• Used for complex experimental set ups where a beaker or other glassware needs to be suspended. The clamps will hold any necessary equipment like a thermometer.

Tongs

• Used to handle test tubes. Especially handy when the test tube is hot.

• Used to add flame to the bunsen burner.
