“I think high school is more important than college because high
school is really what makes you an educated person. By the time you
get to college, you’ve got the basis of a strong education. I think
that La Salle gave me that.”

For over 150 years, La Salle College High School has provided a
college preparatory education for young men in the Philadelphia
area. La Salle boys are taught to be critical thinkers who are well
prepared academically, able to communicate effectively, and lead
confidently. These qualities, combined with the Lasallian commitment
to rigorous learning, result in an impressive list of college admissions as
well as a significant number of National Merit-recognized students and
Advanced Placement Scholars. In fact, La Salle’s number of National
Merit Scholars consistently puts it at the top among Catholic and private
schools in the Delaware Valley.

“The things that we will remember about La Salle are the passionate
and selfless individuals who have made this place more than just a
school. Our teachers and mentors have shown us that happiness is not
found in doing extraordinary things; rather, it is found in doing
little things with extraordinary love.”

Within the academic program you will find the collective
work of a faculty that is grounded in the mission of Lasallian
education, while, at the same time, understanding the rigorous
demands of a college preparatory school. Mentors as well as
educators, La Salle’s dedicated teachers drive a challenging and
innovative curriculum. The faculty and staff look into the core of
each boy and listen – using every resource to gain assistance.
They affirm and empower young men to discover their God-given
potential and realize that life is an amazing journey.

“Our students are very supportive of each other. Whether it be athletics
or in areas of fine arts or music, you will find classmates supporting
the talents of fellow students. There is an overwhelming sense of pride
and respect among the student body for the skills of one another.”
B r o t h e r R i c h a r d K e s t l e r, F S C ‘ 6 0President
With over 50% of the student body participating in an
athletic program that features sixteen sports, it is no surprise
that La Salle has won over eighty titles in the past decade.
The sports feature athletes who are students first and strive
for not only competition, but also respect, teamwork, and
community. The leadership instilled in the boys by their coaches follows
in the footsteps of our Founder, Saint John Baptist de La Salle. From what
they learn on the playing field about analyzing problems and having the
courage to face them, these young men are able to go out into the world
with a sense of responsibility and a well-developed character.

La Salle College High School shared a campus with La Salle
College until the fall of 1960 when it moved from 20th Street
and Olney Avenue to its present campus in Springfield Town-
ship, Montgomery County. The school was built on the former
Belcroft estate of Clarence E. Brown and with the move, La Salle
College High School remained in close proximity of the city,
but had greater space in which to grow and develop.
Three new athletic fields, an environmental study area, and a walking
path were developed on 30 acres of adjacent land acquired in 2007
bringing the total campus property to 84 acres. A four-level, 40,000
square foot academic addition now houses classrooms and science
labs, a chapel, a campus ministry center, a counseling center, a study
commons, and a second technology center.

“My son transferred to La Salle from another private school. I have been
very impressed by La Salle’s facilities and the many resources available.
From the SMART Board technology to the Microsoft IT Academy and
computer labs to the expansive athletic programs and facilities, we feel
that our son is in an environment that is helping him to reach his fullest
potential academically, athletically, spiritually, and as a young man.”

The 84-acre campus of La Salle College High School provides
the finest facilities available in Catholic education today. In the
last twenty years, the school has added over 100,000 square
feet of space dedicated to academics and the arts and has
acquired 34 acres of land that have provided six additional
athletic fields. All of the classrooms and science labs are new or
have been completely renovated and feature SMART Boards along
with integrated technology. The campus-wide wireless infrastructure
and thirty servers support a network of 1,400 users and over
400 computers.

“Following in the footsteps of our Founder, Saint John Baptist de La Salle,
we took part in service, where we put our faith into action. They were
the journeys where we set out to touch the hearts of others; rather,
we returned having our own hearts touched in a more profound way.
They were experiences where we found God in the most unlikely places,
where we discovered, in a very tangible way, that everyone matters.”
D o m i n i c M i r a b i l e ’ 1 1 Commencement Speaker
La Salle College High School graduates live their faith through
their actions, recognize the inter-connectedness of the world,
and act on their obligation to remedy injustice. Through its
many poignant service programs, La Salle fosters an awareness
of local and world communities and the importance of taking
responsibilities on both platforms. La Salle students follow the
leadership of the Christian Brothers to bring creative and generous
responses to the world and become leaders for a future of complex
challenges. Whether it is serving a meal to the homeless, tutoring
a child, or standing up for life, the voluntary service programs offered at
La Salle provide the opportunity to make a difference.

“I would challenge you to find a better school to help mold and prepare
your son for not only college, but for life. As parents, it has been a
worthwhile sacrifice to send our sons to La Salle College High School,
but I believe that it has been worth every penny. I believe that attending
La Salle is an investment, that when realized, will position our sons
for success and achievement in the future.”

La Salle College High School is a community whose
students are taught to make use of their freedom and overcome
prejudices, ready-made ideas, and social pressures. La Salle boys
are encouraged to listen, seek, understand, trust, love, respect,
and contemplate – all in an attempt to develop in the image
of God. Parents are encouraged to be active in the school community as
well as their son’s education. Students immediately become part of the
global network of Lasallian schools conducted by the Christian Brothers
and the active network of over 14,000 alumni living in all fifty states
and more than forty countries worldwide.

Inspired by three centuries of the distinctive spirituality
of the Christian Brothers, La Salle educates the whole person,
developing young men in their unique talents and strengths.
A core program balances academics, athletics, technology, the arts, and
community service. An academically diverse student body discovers an
independence of thought and action that promotes a sense of individual
responsibility.
“I think the greatest legacy of the Christian Brothers and of the La Salle
experience is being able to be an Explorer. It set me up for a lifetime of
exploration – a journey that I am still on today. I’m still exploring this world.
I’m intellectually curious in trying to figure out how all of these things fit
together, but I know that my love of exploration comes directly from the
educational experience at La Salle College High School.”
