Getting thereThe resort is an hour and fourty five minutes from Geneva and Chambery in good conditions, and two hours from Grenoble. This makes is an easily weekendable resort, with trains going to Bourg St Maurice where you can catch a bus or taxi up to the resort.

Resort informationLa Rosiere is a traditional, chalet style resort, with gentle pistes down into the village. As one of the smaller ski resorts in the Alps, most of the chalets are within easy reach of the slopes. There are a number of quaint restaurants serving classic Savoyarde food, while the small selection of bars are lively.

The resort is excellent for families, with a kids disco and lift pass deals for families with teenagers. This is a fantastic area to learn how to ski, with a great selection of green and blue runs as well as good progression from gentle blue slopes to easy red runs.

WIth slopes that cross over from France to Italy with the link between La Thuile, La Rosiere offers plenty of slopes. The area has heliskiing across the Italian border, and there are a few worthwhile black runs. A terrain park offers green, blue and red lines.

Restaurant: L’EstamA cosy hidden gem, away from the main street in La Rosiere, this restaurant is an excellent place to get good, traditional food in a cosy Alpine retreat.

Booking is advised, because the restaurant can get very busy and there is only limited space. The decor is classic charming mountain style.

Activity: Starlight StrollThis is a tour that runs from outside the tourist office every Sunday, throughout the season, where visitors to the area can explore the area by torchlight. The Starlight Stroll tells you how the resort has developed over the years, through fifty years of history.

WinterWith 160 km of piste across France and Italy, this resort offers something for everyone. La Rosiere and its’ Italian sister La Thuile make up an excellent international ski area, and offers everything from easy beginner slopes, to challenging black runs that any expert will find enjoyable along with untracked powder bowls and heliskiing.

La Rosiere is certified as a ‘Famille Plus Montagne’ resort, with plenty of activities for children both on and off the slopes. Ski runs are a good mix of greens, blues, and reds, while off the slopes there is a good range of activities including Nordic Walking, Snowshoeing, Speed Riding and Snow Kiting. La Rosiere caters for everybody, whether you’re a thrill seeker or you prefer more gentle activities.

There are kids clubs and ski schools on hand to take care of children, offering half-day and full-day care. Whether you’re looking for time to yourself or time with the family, La Rosiere has it covered.

SummerLa Rosiere is home to a host of excellent summer activities for all the family. With hiking, mountain biking, climbing and horse riding for those interested in more traditional Summer mountain pursuits, where you can enjoy the breath-taking scenery of the Tarantaise in the Summer.

The resort also offers paragliding, where you can enjoy an adrenaline filled ride across the valley enjoying stunning views. Particularly active types can get involved in canyon and white water sports, while there is a leisure park, tennis courts and golf course available for anyone interested.

With the charming, traditional village, La Rosiere is as pretty in Summer as it is in Winter. From the classic chalet style buildings to the medieval church, there is plenty to enjoy in La Rosiere in the Summer season.
